- you swing your sword, maybe you hit something, and it registers the hit about half a second after it hits
The problem is he misses sometimes? And split-second-delayed hit registering has been present in all MMOs I've played (watch gameplay footage of FE and DF, which are the limits of my experience for FPS-style MMOs)
- there are boars and weasles....and vast nothingness.
Welcome to noob zones. Tell the guy to man up and leave eye-sight of the town
- hasn't looted ANYTHING in about 4 hours.
What do you mean by this? He hasn't killed anything? Everything I've seen is him woodchopping, but I'm not as transfixed by this video as some
- wood chopping is awesome
Harvesting is optional
- i want a c*ck chopper.
right on
- the disk in the box doesnt work lol
Better that than MO having the same client from when those disks were made... trust me (and I believe SV sent updated disks to people who got boxes, but I dunno what the story on that is, I was DD.)
Yeah.. that was amazing. The guys said they might do another live feed on Sunday. The show is also archived on that site so you can watch if you missed it (I just watched the last half of the show this morning).
Anyone still curious about the game should definately check it out. 3 straight hours of unedited Mortal Online.

The funniest part about the video is that people still say "oh he isn't doing XYZ right" or he "needs to do it this way" in order to make the game better.
Sorry folks, but when you're not super hyped up about MO to begin with, this is the game you are going to play. The beginning of the game is SO boring and monotonous, and full of bugs, I don't see how people stick with this for a long time unless they are very dedicated.
And even then, the "high level" videos you'll find of MO could be set to the Benny Hill music because it's just about as comedic as this video.
In the next stream: The streamer runs around in circles, claims MO makes him dizzy. Others spend their finite amount of time on this earth agreeing that MO sucks, and continue to watch it.
And, of course, people actually playing the game are getting mocked for wasting their time.

I think if you enjoy the game, it's a good thing for you. Just that not everybody shares your view and there's no reason to get upset for diferring viewpoints.

Except.. that's not even close to what happened. He made a character... the game crashed/glitched. He lost his weapon when he logged back in. All he had was a newb axe. He had to go chop wood... He went and chopped wood. His newb axe broke. He went and bought a new axe.... so he could chop more wood.
He finally got enough twood to sell to buy a worn shortsword. He went out exploring. He came across mobs stuck. Mobs running into walls and trees. He killed some weasels.. couldnt loot. he found gazzelles... tried to attack. Had one mob almost dead and it dissapeared.. right off the screen. Found another.. some guy in armor came and finished his kill. Found another,.., mob stood there unmoving while he killed it. Could not loot. Tried to kill another but the amrored guy killed it first. He found some pigs. Killed one. Could not loot. He wandered... after a server crash he ended up wandering for 20 minutes alone in the game before realizing he was in "offline" mode. He relogged.. came back in total darkness with no torch (remember the crash that took his newb weapon.. well.. took his torch too).
Some of that might be out of order as it was late.. but that was his play session. Its not like he stood in one place and jumped for 3 hours. There were MO players in the chat as well.. no one could even tell the guy of anything better to do than what he was doing. Even those players were laughing.
I would be happy to watch another stream if you would like to show us another view of Mortal. Just post the link!

I had actually considered setting up a stream, but the problem is my rig is old so I gotta run the game on almost-minimal settings. I just KNOW if I stream, people will say "OMG mortal is so ugly!!!", and then go through the motions that we've seen in this thread and through those chat logs. That is, 1 person gripes, 3 people agree whole-heartedly. Then another person gripes, then the other 3 congratulate him. etcetcetc . I don't wanna sacrifice my bandwidth for the benefit of people who just wanna insult my choice of hobby.
Also, with my luck I'll get killed twice in 10 minutes and then walk off a cliff as soon as someone started watching.
edit: A crash took his noob weapon and torch? I have NEVER heard of that before, and I've been through hundreds of crashes, and I had a noob sword and torch on me for most of them (never leave home without 'em kids)

OK.. I joined in progress so I didn't see the crash but he talked about it. After your comment I went back and looked for it. Here is the link to the crash where he loses his "Dagger"

From what I can tell he never got/had a torch at any point.. which of course made night fun!
I didn't realize there were 2 more hours of stream prior to when I joined. Now I have something else to watch later if I get bored.
I watched, I'm still not clear on how the crash deleted his sword (it wasn't in his inv. before the crash you timestamped) I'm not saying it didn't happen, just that I've never heard of that happening before (did he happen to destroy it by accident?)
At any rate, this video reminds me of this other one, figured I'd link it here since it was also pretty funny in the same style:

Not quite sure how you can miss it.. he has the weapon equipped.. goes to change it for an axe to chop wood.. and it dissapears.. then the server crashes.. when he comes back it is gone...
Also..it's not like this guy had a pre-conceived notion of hating the game. He actually bought the loot bag. You can see while he is playing that he goes from being hopeful.. to being totally frustrated. Thats the lovely part about live streams. It happens in real time.. no hiding.. no opinions. Just a pure view of what is happening.

I never said he hated the game; I actually didn't get that impression from him, though again I didn't watch much of it. He seemed frustrated at points, but hell, I have been as well. (Bugs are frustrating, that's their nature).
I love how you say "No opinions", but all I saw from people in the chat section (not even the player so much as the spectators) were the same people simul-casting their hatchet-job of the game on these forums and in chat.

No opinions means that the stream is there for all to see and make their own decisions. As opposed to someone describing their own version of events. If you want to just SEE the game.. it's right there in front of you.. unfiltered. For instance instead of back and forth about whether or not the patch/maintenance fixed the server.. you could sit and watch the frequency of crashes. Instead of talking about whether mobs were bugged/broken you could see with your own eyes and make your own determination.
In summary.. what you are seeing is live and not someones opinion. After watching live, everyone of course will form their own opinions on what they saw. This is the 5th stream I have watched in 2 weeks. While this was by far the most entertaining.. they all eventually ended with obvious frustration/lack of fun by the broadcaster. As I posted above, I am MORE than willing to watch a stream by a longtime fan who can show us all the "good stuff" missing from the other streams. Just point me to a link and as long as I see it in time.. I will drop by and check it out.

Just for the sword disappering part, it loses durability when mining. It simply disappears when it breaks.
If you actually watch the video you can see that he had the weapon equipped.. walked up to a tree. Went to switch to his axe to harvest.. and then the weapon dissapeared just before he crashed.. when he came back it was gone.
This has zero to do with durability or mining.

Well I guess these things do happen, just bad luck then. Server stability is getting better, I'd like to see these crashes gone asap.
Comments
maybe.....but at least EVE looks good.....
Yeah, spreadsheets are sexy
Wow....good one!
So. what i got from the video:
- server crashes every 15 minutes (auto boot?)
- you swing your sword, maybe you hit something, and it registers the hit about half a second after it hits
- there are boars and weasles....and vast nothingness.
- hasn't looted ANYTHING in about 4 hours.
- wood chopping is awesome
- i want a c*ck chopper.
- the disk in the box doesnt work lol
I think watching the dog on the video was actually more appealing than the game.
Thank you for this stream

Hey guys...glad most of you enjoyed the stream!
We posted the long form and an edited down version of just the funny
Short version-> http://bit.ly/bAK17I
Long version-> http://bit.ly/cHMOMl
Enjoy!
Great to see how many bugs were in that video... especially when the enemy typed out "abandon" and the pet just disappeared!
