I've Quite Mortal Online and I want a refund !!!!

OK.

I'm not new to MMOs,  having played a few,  even a couple  close to launch time.

So I'm not new to the kind of problems that  exist at launch.

However I'm not about to spend my 40 quid to logg in to "offline"  mode every second or third time  I login.

Nor am I prepared to pay for  6 client crashed in 20 minutes

Nor am I prepared to pay for  the  many many server crashes in a day.

I play casually,  for  my entertainment,   and  its not entertainint in the least for  more time spent re-logging or  having to communicate in IRC because the in-gmae chat is  truly feeble.

So I'm done with it.  And,  just to give the staff at SV a laught I have also asked that they refund  my hard earned cash.  Will they?  will they F???,  the TOS says if you have downloaded or used our client you don't get a refund.

Well  - for me it sucks.  I'm sure there are plenty of fanboys who will love to flame this because it has the potential to be great,  but if its good enough to charge me a  big old 43 euros for,  it needs to be fully, or at least mostly functional.

when was the last time  you went into a clothes shop and bought a shirt that had no sleeves and the buttons were hanging off?  Don't bother with  the smart arsed replies  about tee shirts or distressed items,  you know exactly what I mean lol.

So except for the  fanboys if your'e thinking of giving MO a try,  do yourselfa favour and don't -  at least not for several months an don't unless you know for sure its stable and features are working.

I'm done,  flame all you like  - I probably won't read them lol.  Just wanted to let anyone who has not yet spend their cash to hold onto it for a bit.

Hard to feel sorry for you when all the information about how bad MO is everywhere.

I feel ya tho. I have taken the plunge a couple of times on some bad games. Chalk it up to stupid tax and do some research next time before you buy. Its what I do.

It's not like no one told you so.  Before buying a game at least try to hit the forum to see what people think about it.  I've been reading horror stories about this game non-stop in forum, but yet you bought the game.  Your lost.

You can't play a game if the server is down. We all expect the occaisional crash, because no servers are 100% stable and perfect.

But if the servers crash this much, then yes, it's unplayable.

Big World Tech has released an Indie license, and so has Hero Engine. I hope indie developers will start to use these relatively stable engines to design their games, instead of trying to give it a go from scratch, which often ends in buggy unstable engines.

Then they release before it's ready, because you eventually run out of development money, but players never come back. Once the game releases buggy, if you fix it later, you've already lost the majority of your subs.

First off not trying to flame you man but I mean everyone knew about the problems this game has. They have been stated repeatedly on more than just this site. You should have known this and you are now responsible for your decisions.

If you frequent this site and are capable of using the forums, you have no reason to complain about anything.  From your past mmo experience you should already be aware of the problems that plague these releases.  You also probably chose to ignore the thousand warning signs posted to avoid this game at all costs.

    You lose.

Never buy a MMO the first months it is out unless you can live with stuff like this.

I seen it so many times, MMOs launches generally in rather bad shape and small indie games is worst since it takes them longer to sort it out. Wait 6 months with any game.

  • Pale_FirePale_Fire Member UncommonPosts: 360

You get what you deserve.  With the amount of information available to players before a game is released, no one has an excuse for buying a broken game.  Perhaps you'll think twice next time and stop giving game companies a reason to release unfinished products.

You are part of the problem.

I realy doub OP have played MO if your so experience as many already said why you buy game then in early stage of launch?

Your troll and dont like MO prolly hate indie companys and make these topics.

Stay with your themepark from big companys leave indies with real fans.

Usually true, but I"m not waiting for The Old Republic.

I'll buy in the first month, unless there are ungodly reports of massive suckage.

Mortal Online had a free beta where anybody could have played the game. Did you not try it?

  • uquipuuquipu Member Posts: 1,516

If you paid with a credit card call customer service and tell them your story, how you essentially couldn't play the game.
    .
    They'll do a chargeback.
    .
The company can't say squat since they sign an agreement with the CC company that says the CC company is the final arbiter.

I thought MO were using UE 3, but there you go. I think it another case of a small developer who couldn't deliver a descent product. I think decent beta testing should eliminate server issues at launch.

Boohoo. I've heard nothing but terrible things about this game yet you chose to play it anyway. Duh it sucks.

Sell the game on ebay only way getting a refund if you choose to. Personally I preordered it and will wait some months if its still not playable gonna sellling it so easy solution.

We need a MMORPG Cataclysm asap, finish the dark age of MMORPGS now!

Correction: They didn't start from scratch, they used the Unreal 3 engine to create the game. Do some research before you make assumptuous claims.

That's quite a shame you are going to quit mortal.
I bought the game after release.
I knew how bad/buggy it was going to be.
I have my own reasons for being so stupid.
Anyone who bought a copy after the open beta had it coming.
10 seconds of google or reading any mmo forums on the internet would have shown you what you were getting in to.

Notice this... I have been posting about Mortal Online for over 2 years...

Notice this... I was in the alpha they called beta...

Notice this... I said 2 years ago this game was complete crap, and jeeez whattya know, it is complete dog sh*t...

Notice this... I was one of the people who gave MO a chance by pre-ordering the game well in advance, and got f**ked for my patronage of an indie developer...

    Take your clever observations elsewhere...

Well I'm sorry you feel that way, they were pretty clear about the way they were going to do development. I play the game and enjoy it so I won't go away I'll stay in the MO forums thank you. If you thought the game was so aweful a long time ago perhapes you should stop posting in their forums?

So you have said the game was crap for two years and still bought it? Smart.

    Stu

I'm probably not saying anything someone else hasn't said but with the nature of mmo's being like snake oil in a overall advanced video game genre you should know to read around about an mmo at launch if you care at all.  Because as you say you've been around mmo's and anyone who's been around for atleast two should know they could be buying vaporware if they aren't willing to support the devs through the initial problems so wait until you know the game works out of the box.

When it comes to mmo's I would never buy a launch title of a dev I'd never heard of or dealt with in some way because I just don't want to deal with the feelings you are having to now.

but yeah, to call this game Fantastic is like calling Twilight the Godfather of vampire movies....
