"Feature complete" yet half of the game is missing and full of bugs?

rlmccoy1987rlmccoy1987 Member Posts: 1,722

Here are a few screen shots a friend of mine just took...  This is really sad..

If you did not know, the multiple spawning NPC bug has been in there since early closed beta, and they still do not know how to fix it.

We (as the pioneers) should warn everyone to STAY AWAY from MO.

I even made a refund request to SV. I think it'll be denied, but I did drop some EU regulations to it. One of them that a game released should be 99% non-buggy (yes, that's a new Act, or almost a new Act). MO is not even on 50% complete IMO.

On my weblog I made a warning about MO as well. Game should be banned by us (MMO addicts)

Some NPCs spawn funny but are still funtional, books have no descriptions other than their title but are still functional and you should ask someone if you don't know what it does or which to get or at the very worst look at the forums.

Nothing game breaking there but yeah it should have been dealt with before launch but what can I say? If it's such a big issue just uninstall I suppose, why play a game or complain about it if you don't like it and or don't play it?

I don't think it's a good idea to encourage others to engage in credit card fraud.  It's a crime - an actual crime.

How is it a crime when they are selling us an incomplete and broken game?  That is a scam just to get money from what it is looking like now.

Stupid fanboys, can't you see Mortal online has GRAPHICAL BUGS?!?!?

...  I found a rock that didn't clip properly with the terrain... I should probably get a refund.  Or whine about it for the next month, anyway.  Sure it doesn't affect gameplay, but I like to yell!

Yeah, I made it a PayPal claim as well. Don't think SV will respond to my support request only...

They do not respond to support tickets if its a refund request.  They ignore it (they have ignored mine for 7 days now)

Well the fact is that people are upset because they paid for a finished game and this game is certainly not finished.

It's about principle and keeping a good reputation. Even MO biggest fans will fall to the next big titles and if Starvault ever fixes or releases a new game, it will be in the back of the consumers minds (even the lovers of MO) that Starvault isn't the best game company and won't buy again. I mean it's been a drought of MMORPG activity that's available to consumers, thats why MO has some fans, they're just using this game as a bandage till new games come out.

Incomplete and broken in your opinion only.

The game is as complete as they stated it would be for launch, and it works.

Credit card fraud is unethical, and it's a crime.

The game is complete with nothing in it?  Please explain how it is "a crime" when they are selling us an incomplete game?

This almost sounds like publishing a comic and not placing text in their balloons. Hey, you got the comic, right? You can make up what they ment to say looking at the cartoons...

It's not only just the lack of info on the book. It's much larger. NPCs falling through the ground and not being able to reach them. Professions at start not what they ought to be (took me 2 hours to figure out what pick to take for the profession I wanted). No info on char creation.

Then there's the server stability. With last update (17th iirc) they promised to have fixed a lot of server issues. Surprise, surprise. The server still crashes every hour. Now they promise the fix the 29th (if all goes well).

TBH... I have no faith in SV or MO anymore. Game is broken, or at least not fit for release. A game as it is like MO is now is early beta, where nothing is documented and things don't work as they should.

Indeed, not game breaking, but definately NO RELEASE MATERIAL for at least an other 6 months. Yes, selling MO is wilfully ripping off ytour (potential) customers. As much as I hate to say, but this is what gives indy developers a REAL BAD NAME :(

Hmm, I wonder what the hell I've been playing than, if MO is broken.

Actually, why the hell am I taking the bait?  I'm just gonna play MO... hopefully my heart won't explode when seeing a glitch.

I have to agree with you.  Xsyon is the last indie MMO I am going to purchase.  If that does not work out, I am gone from these indie MMOs and only staying with "complete" games and huge companies like EA.  At least they release mostly completed games.  Nothing like this disaster

Well the hard line legal issue is that there are very few... if any cases defining what constitiutes a "complete" game and this is very important. As long as no one defines what a compltete game is any legal action taken will be case to case and could have any fallout.

This have been a good conversation

Get some armour, learn to tame and ride. Skill up on other combat related skills, when my char is ready do some adventuring. Check out the lawless cities, meet people maybe do some banditry, probably hunt down some reds for kicks, get involved with the community and watch the game develop.

How long would all that take? Probably months at my pace and some of those things never end .

Why not start a thread about the features that are all working and make this game worth the purchase? The flagging system alone puts this game head and shoulders above 99% of MMORPGs alone. You need to be a good player to be an outcast and people will hunt them down and defend noob towns when they turn up thanks to the penalty for death.

There's an EU law in the making (if not already released) that states that software sold (and the services around it) should be 100 functional and non-buggy. I don't know the complete in's and out's of the law as they're making it, but I'm pretty sure MO will fail complying to this law :D

I too purchased this game way back in block A beta, i expected a fully functional game come release time, however MO is far from release state, its prety awful by my standards. Anyone that wishes to complain about it has every right too. I purchased the game expecting  it to be ready for its release.....we all know how that turned out. I got ripped off, Im not complaining mind you, just stating facts.

That is probably because it is the second time you bought and tried to get a refund for the game.  If this is a game you want to play so much that you have bought it twice, why don't you just cancel your sub until it is at a point you want to play it instead of continually buying and asking for a refund?  So you can circumvent there not being a free trial yet?

Also if the game is so easy to max skills then obviously there is no reason to feel you have to be there at the start in order to feel you can compete.  Why not just wait on the free trial, if it still does not seem like a game you want to play then you uninstall and never have to worry about getting a refund or wasting money.

I would choose a different MMO to be your last becasue from what I have seen so far Xsyon has less implemented than MO.

The majority of the people have already moved on, the only people left defending are the blind fans that ignore all of these problems by calling it "complete"
