Quick question about creating an account

bartoni33bartoni33 Member RarePosts: 2,044

I've just received  a Unopened Pre-order Box copy of MO off E-Bay. It came with no CD key. How do I create an account to play it? TIA.

Sorry to break it to you.. but the box you purchased is useless.  SV is supposed to send out updated discs at launch that actually work (although it's 3 weeks after launch and they have yet to be seen).

Anyhow.. the main point is that there is nothing inside that box related to an account.  If you want to play you will still need to create a new account on their website and purchase the game.  The only chance you MIGHT have is if you can get the seller to contact SV and change the account they used to purchase the game over to you.

Yeah I knew that the CD was useless already. I've already got the game DL from the website.

Looks like I'll shoot the Seller an E-mail to see if they will give me their Username for the account. I bought Darkfall the same way and the seller gamve me their Username and it worked out alright. Thanks for the reply.

Well I got a Email from the Seller and they said they never created an account, they just played the Beta. Here is what they said:

"Hello, I do not have an account for Mortal Online, nor a Username. I purchased the game while it was in beta as a pre-order. It is my understanding that ALL users need to create an account at mortalonline.com now that the game is live. The CD is not linked to anything as the Pre-orders were all sold prior to account establishment. You will need to go to MortalOnline.com and establish an account. I did not sell the CD/Case as an active account, as doing so is against eBay policy. However, no account was created with it so you are free to establish one and use the disks to avoid client download.  Hope that helps."

What are my options now? I also played the Beta but I had to create an account to do so. Am I going to have to contact EBay or is their another way?

It sounds like the seller is just conning you. The box itself is worthless. It isn't even the current game client.

I must agree with this assessment of the situation.

Sorry but it appears that you've been had...

All I need is the CD key right? For some reason the Game Box didn't come with one (I know it was unopened because it was still in the shipping package from Sweden).

For those that bought the game on pre-order, how did you activate your game? As I said in my first post, I bought a Darkfall pre-order the same way and didn't have any problems playing the game.

I believe that pre-orders were tied to accounts.

I've sent another Email saying the same thing. I HOPE that they are just confused or something and not trying to rip me off.

Did they send you the CD key by Email? Thats what I need (I guess, really don't know how to log in to play).

Did you pay through Pay-Pal?  If so you can get your money back and send the box back to them.  If they do not intend on cooperating, contact somone from the site (: thats the best I can think of....

    Yes I did.

I just sent ANOTHER email stating that if I don't get account info I am going to do just that.

It seems like they really are confused about it. I'm afraid they bought if off someone else and don't know better.

As far as i believe when you pre ordered the game back when you had to make an account in order to do so, I would be asking for the account info he used to originally pre-order the game. But tbh i think this guy is taking you for a ride, give him one day to respond then file a complaint in paypal for a fraudulant sale if anything you should get your money back...oh and fyi if he does give you the correct info, don't expect to get the details changed into your name anytime soon, MO Customer support is one of the lousiest i have seen, not only are they slow, they clearly do not know what they are doing. I have been waiting since release day to get my email address changed and twice they have responded with an issue that i never even asked about in the first place lol

1st response from them after asking to change my email address was them telling me how to change password???

2nd response was them telling me that they changed my email address but they changed it on the wrong freaking account....LAWL

Not the smartest CS team i have come across.

Anyways good luck with sorting this issue out.

    Do wha?

You just can't change you account info without CS help? If they give me the account name and password I can't change the password? Or the payment options? Holy Sheep Shit!

Looks like I'm just gonna try to get my money back. It's a shame. I bought MANY games off Ebay and never had a problem.

    You got ripped off.

the game is designed for people to essentially ruin other peoples day's... So just take it on the chin and expect a whole lot worse once you actually get into the game.

Everyone that has bought the box had to create an account with login and user.

So he is not telling the whole truth. Maybe he wanted to continue playing the game but just wanted to sell the box to get some cash. What you have to do is to:

    1. tell the selling to give his account to you and before that he change the info to your info.

    or ...

    2. buy a downloaded version of the game. The problem with this is that you wont get an updated DVD that SV will send out later to all that  got boxes and loot bags.

I have a feeling that the seller wasn't that honest to you.

No, You can change the password and all details like name and address and stuff but you cannot change Email address or creditcard info, apparently they are working on a new system....yeah right.

So yeah you can change password but then all he will have to do is say he forgot his PW and get it reset and sent to him, not everyone is like this but you just never know, maybe they are legit and just don't know exactly what you mean by the account info e.t.c. for the game you bought, maybe they do not realize that the account they made to play beta is actually linked to the box they just sold...who knows but yeah either way what ever you do it is a real pain in the ass lol.

I would just buy it from the site if you tried it in beta and liked it.

Don't buy MMO discs on eBay... Discs are useless. MMOs are played with an account, like the vast majority of online-oriented games...

I guess it's your turn to sell the box now. Pass it on to another dumb guy, don't break the chain now!

I agree. I was mistaken in the beleif  that a CD key would be in this unopened PreOrder  box that would allow me to create a new account, like the vast majority of online-oriented games... As I said before I have bought MANY MMO accounts through EBay and never had a problem.

Of course NOTHING about MO is like the vast majority of ANYTHING!

But no worries here, they just refunded my money through PayPal. I think what the issue here was that she (pretty sure it's a girl) is selling all of her Ex's gaming stuff and honestly didn't know that the game is tied to an account. I even warned her about the Auto-subscribe thing. Thats when she refunded my money.

tl:dr: DON"T BUY MORTAL ONLINE ACCOUNTS OFF EBAY!

Sorry certain threads make me post like this.

Well from my standpoint, if you do not have what you bought by now, then you should definately get your money back.  I have been almost-scammed plenty of times.  Buying stuff online is like raiding.  If you do not get what you want, then rinse and repeat until you get it.
