Mortal Online Improved Server Stability Confirmed

RohnRohn Member UncommonPosts: 3,730

Evoras has finished his compilation of statistics on MO server uptime, and the data indicates a definite trend of improvement in server stability.

It's not 100% yet, of course, and they should still be working toward that goal.  But it is getting a lot better.

The post can be seen here (with graphs, if you can believe it).

Server stability its a basics that should be fixed from open beta and have only minor problems at launch if any...

And now for the other 99% of the broken stuff in the game..the 6 or a bit more amateur coders at SV have a long way to go to fix the game first..or fix and put working features in it? or just cant fix stuff and still put more unworking features in it breaking even more something thought that couldnt be broken even more then it was...

It's still crashing an average of 11.67 times per day over the last week (excluding the day they switched forums because the data was missing).

This is indeed an improvement over the 16 or so times it was crashing per day during the prior week.

I think the larger area of improvement is in total uptime.  I  believe this is directly related to them finally staffing the server 24/7 so that they can be sure to reboot the server upon crashes.  This has lead to a dramatic decrease in long downtimes.

Now.. is this improvement ("only" crashing 11-12 times a day) enough to keep folks playing ?  You should start to see that picture in a week or so when subs come up for renewal.

Just another blatantly misleading exaggeration.  While the patch did in fact cause some players to have client problems (the majority of which appeared to have been easily fixed), if you actually read the forum, there are a surprisingly low number of reported problems.

The forum certainly isn't "ripe" (sic) with them.  Ripe.  lol

The performance of the game isn't perfect, but it is improving.

I decided to go though the up/down times since yesterdays patch which is roughly a 24 hour snapshot (think its just about 23 hours to be exact but I'll give the extra hour credit as UP).  One interesting thing that I noticed was that the information had obvious gaps.  I don't know if this is unique to the last 24 hours (I doubt it) and I'm not sure how the "stat guy" accounted for the missing info in his analysis. Areas where we are missing UP times are faily self evident.  An example is that the server went down at 21:56.. I never see an UP message, but then people start saying it went DOWN again at 2:05.  So I can assume that it went up at some point, but unknown when.  For simplicities sake I have just ignored these DOWN time durations.. even though they could conceivably be the longest, but this way there is no argument about how long it was actually down (So I gave MO every benefit of the doubt in each instance).

    What I found:

The server crashed/was taken down a minimum of 17 times (just as at least 3 UP times seem to be missing.. we may be missing DOWN times as well)

The server was down a minimum of 6 hours and 8 minutes or about 25.6% of the time.  Remember.. this excludes any downtime for 3 instances where the server was not declared as UP and the extra "free" hour I mention above so actual downtime is greater than that.

    The times follow:

    DOWN        UP

    20:09 -----20:17

    20:37 -----21:00

    21:34 -----21:44

    21:56 ----- UNKNOWN

    02:05 ----- 02:16

    03:12 ----- 04:56

    06:45 ----- UNKNOWN

    08:21 ----- 9:57

    10:05 ----- 10:22

    11:41 ----- UNKNOWN

    12:25 ----- 12:25

    12:53 ----- 13:16

    13:22 ----- 13:32

    14:21 ----- 14:32

    15:21 ----- 16:07

    16:57 ----- 17:01

    17:38 ----- 17:44

The servers and clients have been improved for every patch regarding crashes/performance and bugs. The devs are doing a great job. Also Star Vault really listen to the players.
