How is the car/weapon customization?

I am just curious about how deep the customization can get with cars or weapons or what you can do with money?

I know you can buy new each, but can you get more specific with customization than cosmetic details? This is more important to cars (maybe add nitrous?).

You can add nitro.  You can unlock different things.  New body kits, hoods, head lights, wheels, etc.  You can paint them.  If you've ever played Forza 2, the customization is similar to that.  Maybe not as in depth with the hardware, but pretty close with the asthetics.  Everything has a cost.  You can't paint your weapons, but you can buy upgrades after you unlock them.  Added clip size, increased range, increased damage, faster reload, etc.   Similar upgrades to your car as well, such as mobile ammo depot and many others.  Lots of different types of weapons, grenades and such.  You spend money on all of it.  You have to buy ammo as well, but it isn't very expensive.
