I still don't get the Skills/Class type.  So the weapon you choose decides your class.  However, I was always a Perky little WHM Taru on FFXI but I don't see how a new player will discern the weapons etc? Do you start with nothing and then go to a quest giver who will offer you a weapon? I could be searching for yonks... lol

Its prolly me being a lil thick.

Lol! I didn't see immediately what you meant image  but yeah, humongous bustsizes will determine favored face types image

You get to choose your first class. If you want to change to another class, you just grab another weapon from vendor or crafter.

Its been so long since I played FFXI, been on WoW since then.  But we will still be able to update our staves and what not? I'd like a pretty one with leaves or rubys on eventually not the same one I started out with all the way through the game.  I'm totally assuming we will be able to as they'll have stats and what not :)

It just confused me... I like being the Teleport taxi for my linkshell lol

Hm yeah lol, kinda? I don't know what you mean exactly. You'll get better staves as you level up o_0

Not sure if it's been asked.  Sorry if it has.

How important are healers?  Do you need a healer in a group?

Getting tired of MMOs and dedicated healers, was hoping that MMO companies were finally learning that and would implement a combat system without the need of someone always looking at little red bars...

    Thanks

    Nice Info.

Heh... best part about this thread is that there's no arguing really.

I mean I saw a couple ppl post stuff that sort doubts the game. But the OP didn't really take it as an offense.

Yeah, I'm sorry that I'm not really posting anything about FFXIV but I just wanted to congratulate the OP on posting a successful thread that is an actual discussion instead of an arguement.

each class (or most)  got at least one healing ability

and atm there is no 100% healing class instead if someone wanted to be healer he should level few classes

    and equip  their healing abilites

My biggest concern is this, lack of meaningful ways to compete with other players be it through PVP or other activities.  I'm a HUGE fan of PVP, however at the same time I'm a huge fan of content, something most PVP games like Darkfall are lacking... by content I mean more to do than just PVE (basic forms) and PVP.  I want the world to feel alive through NPCs and so forth and that's the only reason I'm giving FFXIV a try.

My brother convinced me to buy the game with him so I will be, I just hope that there is more to the game than raiding the same dungeons over and over at end-game.

Can anyone ease my aching heart? I'd really like to know that this will be more than just  co-op PVE grind.

    latest interview taken from ffxivcore.com

    -asks about PvP at launch.

    • The answer says we'll get only PvE in the beginning but that the development team is already working on PvP for a future update.

    - asks if we will see linkshell wars or a city for large-scale PvP.

    • The answer says PvE is the immediate concern and that SE wants to deliver PvP without allowing harassment from PKers.

Well I knew that much already, I do keep up to date on the news.  My question was more geared towards those in beta and may be able to answer as to if the world itself FEELS alive.  There are so many ways I could explain what that means to me but I'm sure most people will understand when I say I'm tired of MMO's of late that launch with little to no content and everything else is static and never changing.

Now, this was back when the game first launched so maybe it got better, but I didn't stick around to find out.

Why the hell should I have to put up with people speaking a dozen plus languages and having a hard time finding groups that can communicate well. It destroys the ability to form PUGs, which in turn hurts your ability to make new friends, seeing as how you can't understand half of them. I don't have xenoglossophobia or anything... it just seems incredibly silly that SE continues to do their servers this way, the opposite of every MMO i've ever heard of.

How is this different from any other American MMO? Half the players I meet in game can't type coherent English anyway! It would probably be a good thing if the translator is limited to specific phrases lest our ignorance be shown.

As someone that has traveled to 30+ countries and learned quite a bit about different cultures I welcome it, seggregation is bad mmkay.

I agree with this, I love dedicated healing and cooperative games while hating solo and potion spam games. There are tons out there if that's what you are looking for though,  just google Action RPG, botting or l33t PVP hacks and it will pretty much list them all. They serve their purpose by keeping some of the trash out of the real MMO's at least.

You may like it as a healer but those waiting for healer to log on so they can actually do something don't like waiting for you.

I don't think healers are too important in this game, but I could be wrong. It might be a different case in end-game.

Play the original SWG before the big nerfs, there are heals but combat healers are totally different.

It shouldnt be that bad with the ability to switch to a healer class whenever you need. Chances are someone will be able to fill in

Player housing, how's that gonna work? Pretty sure I read it somewhere.

I'd love it if there was an area for linkshells to buy a guild hall or something where the guild can furnish it etc which would in turn add certain bonuses/ buffs etc. Is it gonna be instances like before?

Sorry if it was already asked, I couldn't find the info on the fourms or google.

I've ordered an American Express for personal reasons and am considering cancelling my Mastercard. From what I could find FF XI doesn't work with American Express and only does with Mastercard and Visa.

Was any official info released already about the payment methods? Leaving the Mastercard and not cancelling it isn't a biggie for me, I just don't want to keep it if I can find an official statement that American Express will be supported.

    Thanks in advance!

Hey there Hyanmen love the post man good job!

    Now on to some questions.

    1. If no healer class, then is there a caster type that you can set up that does more healing then others? I see that you get healing in most classes, so I guess you would need to level them and in the end come up with a healer type caster in the end.

    2. Chocobo races? Come on I know you all want to do chocobo races!

    3. Um I dont know I guess I will post if I got something else later lol.

So looks like just wondering on what kind of buffer/healing style caster there is, some people like healers its there favorite type of class.

Oh yeah almost forgot, the whole mana thing with no true regen, I take it there will eventually be food you can actually use to regen. I understand the whole you should know what the heck you are going to be doing if you are going to be casting and all but regen was always a pain in the butt in FFXI and here it seems that it will be worse. Or do you get a sufficient enough mana pool where you dont have to worry too much about running out mid fight. I saw that you posted that you where also going to be able to use your TP to cast spells, so that will be good since you can't regen mana, will you run out of mana with in like lets say a fight or 2 or will it be something like 10 fights.

    [edit]

So since you are depending on the crystals for a full regen are they really far or what? Will the first one the one you start the guildleve with disappear once you use it or will it have a CD or something on it and you have to go to the next one? If there is any chance to post something related to that it would be great!

    Thanks man!

I'm kinda sad about the lack of any real soloing, that's what I liked about WoW... when your guild or mates weren't around you could still progress without them.

The problem with MMO's at the moment is the race to level, to gear and then the snobbery that comes with being one of the best, it destroys community spirit lol.

However, my new question is MOUNTS?!?! Will there just be Choccybobos or will we see all new mounts in FFXIV?

I think there may be region variation with regards some payment options, but I think VISA or Mastercard will be options worldwide.

I think you missed that there is a much stronger bend towards playing however you like. Solo if you want, grouped up with a friend, or a gathering of a bunch of friends.

The problem you mention appears to be a quiet reflection on the current state of WoW... I would just wait and see how things pan out in this community before you start to worry about that.

Yes there are mounts, no there are no details.

  • sudosudo Member UncommonPosts: 697

Thanks, Illyssia, guess I'll be keeping my Mastercard up until the information about payment methods is out.

Kinda considering preordering now and praying each day that I'll get into beta, checking my mailbox every hour :)
