Worst User Interface I've Ever Come Across

fawkinayfawkinay Member UncommonPosts: 2

I can't think of any other game I've played that has a worse UI than Mortal Online.  It looks like absolute garbage. It works like absolute garbage. Look and usability should be high on the list for MMORPGs before they launch, and this game has failed horribly at both.

  1. It takes way too much effor just to get a skill to drop in your quickbar.

  2. Loot windows will not save the location you move them to, and when they always default to the upper left the top left item's mouseover text disappears off the left side of the screen.

  3. When selling to vendors you actually have to put the money you want receive on your side of the trade window

  4. I had to edit the .ini file just to get the controls configured the way I wanted. There are not even options in the game menus to set some of the most basic and useful features like autowalk toggle and sprint.

  5. You have to exit the game completely to adjust mouse sensitivity and other similar settings. If you're not going to offer an interface to change these simple settings at least give us a console so we can change them in game.

  6. The entire interface and control system seems sluggish even on the lowest texture/video settings their developers suggested (to prevent the constant crashing), and I'm not on a slow system (2.83GHz quad, 4G RAM, 1G DDR3 vid)

I can excuse the lack of content; it can always be added later. I can excuse the crashes; patches will fix those. Buggy game mechanics? Patches will take care of those too. What I can't exuse is this heap of feces StarVault felt justified to launch as a complete product. It's like they didn't even bother polishing this turd before chucking it into the market.

While I very much like the concept of the game, this sandbox is going to need a lot of cleanup before I ever think of jumping back in.

Only the user interface? Did you just logon and did nothing else?

Play a bit more and then make a post with the complete list of worst things in a game.

It would be an exercise in frustration to spend any more time in that game. I'd just be fuming about the awful UI while walking for 15 minutes without seeing anything but horribly rendered trees. At least the mountains and sky were pretty.

FYI: the UI is going to be completely reworked, hopefully pretty soon.

I usually don't like digging one game's name in the dirt to suit another's, but Darkfall's is way worse. In fact, I had no real problems with MO's UI, just the tons of other things wrong with it.

The fact that darkfall is worst doesnt get this game better, it just change its rank from ' wrost game ever' to ' almost worst game ever'. But it is still horrible, I dont care what rank it is bacause its still under the worth it was paid for. I paid for a game and i received this mess... nothing enjoyable here, aint that what is a game supposed to be? Enjoyable?

    /this

But right now the GUI is enough good to have fun in the game. I really love MO.

You paid for a new game by a small, independent developer that are trying to break new ground in the MMO genre. You expect that to be a smooth and flawless experience?

I seriously don't get all this crying about MO. It's not like the information about the game's unpolished status is not out there for you to find. Do you just buy a game without reading up on it first or what?

Right now, everyone who's interested in MO either

    a) buy it and prepare for bugs, instability and lack of content, and play it anyway because they want in from the start, or

    b) wait a while until things are more polished.

Those who want a perfect, shiny, bug-free game with no stability issues at all will have to wait quite some time though.

Yes, I do.  I expect this game to be working and not 60% incomplete at launch when the developers are charging full AAA pricing of the game.

The game was not fine at launch however is now very playable and enjoyable, water under the bridge people we are being compensated for it afterall. As for the price as a business student i can tell you that is the price you pay for a niche product or a product developed by a smaller company, to regain their investment in a reasonable amount of time from a smaller pool of potential buyers the price has to be higher. That´s all financial stuff though meh.

Sure it's not working 100%, and the actual content is far from 100% of what it can be, but still: it works and it contains the stuff that the devs said it would contain at launch.

All content but it does not work.  Like what you did there image

    What is not working, exactly?

What fundamental error stops you from playing the game?

What, specifically, about the UI doesn't work in a way that prevents you from enjoying?

Game i fun very playable has an air of excitement and guess what replacing any lost loot is very easy good balance all round , unless you come accross a mage on horse back.

A breath of fresh air.... And I am surprised I am saying that.

Yeah, that's a really constructive answer. If you gonna take the time to cry and troll about a game you don't even play, at least try to do it sincerely.
