SV is STILL censoring legitimate forum discussions

Recon48Recon48 Member UncommonPosts: 218

Since the post earlier today in the linked thread below was locked & considered a necro post,  I guess I'll start one with current events.  I play Mortal Online and I read and try to contribute to their forums occasionally.  I make every effort to read and re-read any post that might be regarded as criticism to make sure that it is addressed in a way to point replies in a constructive direction.  The link below is a current and ongoing problem with Mortal Online and StarVault.

http://www.mmorpg.com/gamelist.cfm/game/361/view/forums/thread/274828/page/5

Seems WTS Brownwood recieved a permanent ban for disagreeing with a dev on why the earliest players got such huge perks that were nerfed after a day or two.  Seems the conversation in that thread on MO forums has changed significantly since Sunday, with many posts by WTS deleted so it looks like he was trolling the same issue over and over rather than naming a few game mechanics that need fixed through the course of that discussion.

    1.  It's their forums so they can do what they like on them

    2.  Yes, I have seen a tremendous amount of censorship on them.  It's hard to prove unless you screenshot the forums every 15 minutes but once in a while they get caught by deleting posts linked from the DevTracker.  Those are my favorite.. when there is a developer replying in a thread and then some Mod goes and erases either the whole thread or chunks of it (including the dev response) as though it never happened.  Locking is one thing.. but when they try and bury things by deleting them it makes me chuckle.  Someone linking to cheat programs is an example of something that should be deleted... most everything else should simply be locked (if they feel the need to moderate it).

On Forumfall you can bitch about DF as much as you like. But posts about other MMOs, or hacking accusations sometimes get deleted.

I confirm that. I have never been rude or used any sort of foul language on MO forums, but I did argue and disagree with many things regarding the direction the devs took. Most of all my criticism were aimed at their support section as they don't provide any support and simply always blame the client crashes on your hardware.

I was in disagreement with them fixing lots of small bugs but never hearing anything regarding those client crashes, only response I would get was "please install the latest physix and directX 10"...

I also responded to a guy asking about MO who was basically asking if the game was as great as it looked on trailers.

I said that those trailers were deceiving as it was 2009 beta footage and since lots of changed had made the game look much worse graphically. post got deleted, I got a warning.

Eventually ended up banned for excessive trolling

Its not the best way to behave from their position, but if you were them wouldnt you do the same?

Its one of the reason i stoped posting on Forumfall (ninja delete threads / posts and got several warnings already). You should see spotlight discussion about char progression. More then 60% of the posts made that day on that thread were deleted. Especially anything that contained any negative feedback / arguments.

Its their forum and they can do what ever they like it. Yet i have to find a official forum which wasnt handled that way.

I guess AoC official forums were one of my worst experience according censorship.

Its one of the reasons i like the mmorg.com forums, as they arent bound to any development company and you can say freely your personal opinion.

This.  I steer clear of almost all company run forums since moderation tends to run amok on them, especially when the game has a lot of problems as is the case with MO.

EVE and WOW forums were always pretty well run as far as I was concerned, but most others failed with excessive censorship.

Thing is, the forum was my only way of getting any attention from the SV staff, as I have BOUGHT the game and couldn't play it because of constant client crash, every day I was hoping for a patch that would clear those crashes, but all I got was "its your hardware" while it oubviously wasn't.

Eventually, there has been 1 only post where Henrik explained that they had screwed up their use of the UE3 and the way they generated their textures wasn't working and unless you had 6GB of RAM with a 64 bits OS and a 1GB ram video card this would happen.

I wasn't posting just to have fun and to bash MO, I was trying to get some support and some answers regarding the fact that I couldn't properly run something I had paid for.

First your concern is legit from first view, but i dont know "how you told your concerns" :)

Yeah i know ive experienced already in several games like BFBC 2 (bla bla bla the problems affects only minority bla bla bla while the support section was full with the problems and lot of people even didnt make a thread).

Ill guess its standart procedure in gaming industry to claim its hardware fault and not software.

Doesnt mean i like the fact ...

I made my opinion about that when i tryed to run beta (couldnt get ingame). So my expectation were extremly low and there for i didnt bother to buy the game.

PS : Could you describe the problem more ( how often does it crash and other stuff )?

I didn´t read however if your getting crashing errors put the graphics down, the game is not yet optimised fully meaning even if your system is capable of running other games on high it might not be able to with MO quiet yet.

Or anything online for that matter :p

I get so sick of people talking about "why can't I say that in this game, FREEDOM OF SPEECH"

Lol really?  Is censoring legit threads "right", no, it isn't.  But their site, they can do as they please, just shows the type of business they plan to run.

Merged four similar threads. Please do not make anymore game compensation threads. Continue discussion about that in here thanks.

Thumbs down why merge and lock threads? Compensation

Why would you merge all threads about server downtime compensation and then lock them?

There has been no developer announcement yet.

There is still alot of active dialogue happening in the threads.

It is obviously something the current players of the game want to know more about.

So why lock the thread?? I can't even find my original thread about it so it must have got merged and locked with the rest.

Players need a place to discuss game related issues.

Please do not lock ongoing threads that are clearly productive from a player standpoint. Thanks...

That's not complaining about censorship. They are trying to merge threads since you don't need 5 threads about gametime compensation. They might be failing at the merging but that's different than purely deleting them because you don't like the content.

  • Slapshot1188Slapshot1188 Member LegendaryPosts: 17,651

No the OP was complaining that they merged the threads.. and then LOCKED the remaining one!

I believe zekk was trying to indicate that they were consolidating the threads in part because the response is forthcoming. (i.e. they weren't censoring the threads)

Wouldn't one normally wait until the response was out and then point the thread to said response?

I was suprised when my friend told me that there was posts quoting me on this sight. I was relatively unaware of mmorpg.com and all of its great content. I will now be actively monitoring this site, what a great resource!

With that said, its true about the cencorship, I was one of many victims of SV and their shenanigans. I had about 189 posts and 16 threads started. Several of those were deleted.  All because of 1 thread wich I honsetly stated the truth to a fellow DF player who asked if MO was similar to the DF release, I was banned with no prior warnings from the forum(wich the staff couldnt resolve my issue of not posting in customer section(lol?).  Several of my posts were deleted, wich may have looked like I was trolling. The dev who replied in that post seemed to be playing dumb and had specifically asked what pve exploit I was talking about, so I replied with a post about monster AI. The thread did get out of hand I admit, but all over the honest truth. Theres no doubt that I wasnt trolling, over 97% of my posts stated facts or questions besides 1 wich I replied with "lol fanboi alert" in response to his reply to a dev of "lol good post" wich tryed to defend my facts of a game that was about 2/3 broken.

If anyone has any questions about MO, plays age of chivarly, day of defeat, or vanguard telon / halgar server feel free to PM me
