Counterstrike:Source is what many people would call counterstrike 2 because of the source graphics engine, but really it is CS 1.6 masked in better graphics. All the weapons and maps you found in 1.6 are here, not modified at all. I started playing it today because I beat Half Life 2 on Sunday and needed something to aid my hunger for action gaming, since WoW and EQII were not satisfying me. I am a Unreal Tournament player and usually people in favor of UT don't go CS but I was desperate! I started it up, came to a huge list of 500 servers with over 15,000 playing at nearly 3 o'clock in the morning. I picked a server, picked my guns, and started shooting. Gradually I got the hang of it and it has become even more addicting than Half Life II, where I would wake up at 4 o'clock in the morning to get an early start on it. CS 1.6 players are bitching on how it is CS 1.6 with a pretty mask and that it is a waste of 60 bucks American if they don't want to play Half Life II [how could they not want to play HLII?] but I find it fresh and neat. I put some 5 hours into it and I am still going. Half Life II buyers, don't fear the counterstrike, play the counterstrike.

I love CSS. I never played 1.6, i played 1.5 until just before 1.6 came out. My biggest complaints about CSS are, they tweaked the autosniper rifles way too much, they are waaaaay more accurate than they used to be, and they kill in pretty much 2 shots. also the heavy machine gun has a much higher rate of fire, and i think a semi improved accuracy. Oh ya and grenades do way more damage than they used to.

Also, I achieved my highest score ever today, I tihnk i had 41 kills and about 8 deaths

Yeah. I hate the recoil on the magnum rifle. Single shot rifles should be tweaked, not automatic. I also hate how the Desert Eagle .50 is so weak, when in real life it can tear a torso in two with one 20 meter distance shot.

By the way. I have played Far Cry and all the battlefields. I never got into Farcry and BF just got too cheesy for me, so I quit.

yea, After i got bored with 1.6 I tried the xbox ordeal

bought the xbox, xbox live, and the game

turned out to be a waste of nearly 200 bucks

i hate the way the friggin joystick is the only think you can aim with, they shuld have a touchpad or something!

but then I got eqii, and haven't looked at any game since...

(before eqii came out, i really enjoyed men of valor)

I played the CS:S beta and i thought it was beter than 1.6. I never was really in to CS (not my scene). The bulk of people who played that game didnt interest me. I loved BF1942 because the people i played with where actualy skilled in the game and it required a few more tactics to win. But since bought HL2 i havent touched CS:S. HL2 is to fun. I am waiting for TeamFortress 2.

The scout is actually a great weapon now. Movement feels sluggish compared to old CS though.

I can't wait for TF2 either, but i heard rumors that its going to be "realistic"... as in no more nade-pipe-conc jumping. :[

I never played CS 1.6 but I played a little TF. I loved getting it on doom style with chain guns and kicking ass. I think I had the most fun with the assassin. Jumping on people and slitting throats was a blast. Plus, everyone likes the idea of picking classes and defending a base by hiding in pipes, mining doors, setting sentry traps and sniping from 2000 meters away!

 CS Source is great. The improved graphics and tweaking was all the game needed. Everything has such a more dramatic feel to it. When you see a grenade go off and a corpse "rag-doll" 7 feet in the air it really gives you a sense of how much more dangerous the game is. Now when people hear gunfire most of the players actually hide, apposed to in 1.6 players would bunny-hop everywhere "spraying 'n praying".

I prefer the CS source because its a lot smoother graphics. I didn't like the old CS becuase of the graphics being so poor. But now that Source is out and has great graphics I enjoy playing it.

New models are coming out next week and on the Steam forums, Valve is promising to revive 2-3 CS 1.6 maps to Source! What could be better?

Play HLII first. CS:S is addicting but HLII is a better game. If you start with CS:S, you may never play HLII!

Ya I know. When I get it im going to beat HL2 before I touch CS:S. Its going to be hard though, having HL2, CS:S and EQ2 Dont know which to play first.

HL2 Deathmatch is out now. Its really fun. The fact that if you get hit by a flying barrel you WILL die. A lot of new maps are popping up for it now too.

Easy HL2 when EQ2 is patching, CS:S when you feel the need to PvP someones @ss. EQ2 for that all around uber experience

I have played on over 20 player made maps on an only player made maps server. Only 3 of them were memorable but you can see that the community is really into map making!
