This poll has 178 votes and shows that 68.5% will be renewing tomorrow, hmmm seems the world will not become dead afterall. May MO live to see another day.
Actually.. at this point the poll shows that 65% of people who visit the forums currently are planning to resub. This currently means that 144 people have said they are renewing....
Remember.. the vast majority of people that are not resubbing and have stopped playing probably don't visit the forums to participate in the polls.

A consistent 65% statistical retention rate from multiple polls. Interesting.
It certainly invalidates the cooked poll that many nay-sayers were touting as accurate, simply because it validated their beliefs and appeared to slam MO or SV.
You know the old saying: Statistics don't lie, statisticians do.
I'd guess that the validity of this poll would be similar, as was said of the other poll, because it's limited to people who play the game.
In any event, most Triple-A MMO companies would kill for a 65% retention rate on a new game these days.
As I've said, Mortal Online is a good game. Not perfect - it has bugs and server instability problems, but a good, enjoyable game nonetheless. And it is getting better.
Well, I just cancelled my sub. It's one whole month from release and I haven't seen much to give me confidence that this game will ever get properly fixed. I had originally planned to stick with it for three months, but there is such a thing as ROI. I don't anticipate much return from a continued investment.
Sorry, Star Vault. I really wanted to like your game and play it, but you make it oh so difficult to do so.

Wow. Your recent posts were fairly upbeat. If you don't mind my asking was there something specific that caused the change?

When so few people bought the game after the disaster of a beta, and then that number is shrinking by over 30%, that's not a good sign.

Well the population has increased throughout this month sometimes there is a small cue, not often but that alone tells us the population must have increased. Along with the fact the game is full of players.

I should hope that LAUNCHING the game would increase the population. There were hardly any players around before hand.
Interesting.. the poll numbers dropped and mysteriously the poll was deleted... ROFL
Nope.. they don't censor stuff over there
You know what's funny is that I responsded to the above quote here and MY reply got deleted here. So this place isn't exactly a bastion of free speech either.
The mods said it ended at 60% renewing and 40% not renewing.
At this point I regret ever buying the game, not because of the poor state it's in, but because I found a number of reasons to lack any confidence in the development team. If they can survive, this is a much longer project than most believe. For those remaining it's a non issue since they know what they are paying for; but for those yet to purchase who will base that decision upon the cheers of the fans, a good number of people are going to feel burned.
Also with regard to a comment in this thread saying at times "the game is full of players", I'd remind you the actual game world is small, very small, in comparison to every other MMO I've played. Movement around the game world is slow and presents an illusion of it being bigger than it is, so it's easier to see other players when the places to be in virtual square footage is a relatively small one.
Time to move on.

In a FPS game, if the maximum amount of player in one server is 32, then i want to play in a server with 32 players so i can call it full. Its few compared to mmo, but i can still experience full of fun that the fps game have to offer.
So, MO might be small, but as long that i can find players easily no matter how small or how few players are playing, its all good. I am even tired of Darkfall huge world with not more then 2/10 of the total population in one server active that are playing without going AFk. In DF, you find players in cities, but once you start roaming around the world, you very hardly find players.

I was only responding to the person who was suggesting the fact they see X number of players in game translates to a robust subscription base.
Our experiences in DFO are different. I wish I could have a night of just going out adventuring and PvE without interference, but that is a 50/50 proposition. PvP seems to find me and I it no matter where I go in DFO and I'm talking remote locations away from cities. I actually enjoy the population to game world size at the moment; not saying it wouldn't be better with many more as the game world could certainly accomodate them; but the huge zergs that existed at release became very boring.
We have different opinions Big and that's cool. I wish you luck.

Ahh an interesting read, I am mistaken. It's just good to know you're always near other players in MO whereever you go. In other games you tend to get only certain areas where you would find players which is bad in my opinion.

Let me see if I understand your implication. In WoW you only find other players in certain areas?? That is what you wrote in your offhanded way.
Man that would be a real shocker to the 11+ million people playing the game. Now I would agree with you about WAR or AOC but those are only 2 mainstream MMORPG's that I know of that seem rather deserted.

Deserted now.. but not during the first week of launch. Same with Aion. It was packed... then big chunks (say 40%) of the players leave after a month and it's not so packed. Rinse and repeat.. go back in 6 months and servers are deserted and needing to be combined. What do you do when you only have one server though? Nothing to combine...
Well.. first you probably discount the game to try and get more players. Then you likely start free trials. After that it's anyone's guess.

I beg to differ, WAR is actually pretty busy lately, despite it being forced to close down all but two english servers. As for WoW, that's WOTLK for you. Everyone is in northrend, there is barely anything of interest for lvl 80 players in the old world, which is imho extremely bad design.
Vanilla was designed a lot better on this matter, despite you being top level there were points of interest for you in any zone.

I wouldn't really describe a third of people saying they won't resubscribe as "good news". That's still a poor retention rate.

So how much does game charge that they can stay afloat with 144 subs? Several tens of thousands / mo?
Those are some pretty dismal numbers or else the people playing the game don't give a rats butt about the forums.

Did you know that WoW got only about 15-20% retention rate? Its aint a joke.

Not sure what you mean by retention rate in your example. I can assure you that WoW is not turning over 85% of its population every month though :-)

Not every months but since it was launched.
So if they would have higher retention rate they would have 30-40 million players playing.

Myrland, a 64km2 continent. Isn't that simular to the size of WoW exluding Northrend? Correct me if im wrong.
