personally i would like to be able to like PvP in MMO's. My following opinion based on my WoW experience is that PvP is lame nowadays. Arena: whats the point? There dozens of singlepayer games you can play on an arena style. Battlegrounds? sounds much like playing shooters online , where's the MMO in that? I'd love more PvP like Wintergrasp , big battles with lots of players that make you remember its an MMO . What they should make are PvP events, creating temporary sieges over some capitals and things like that.
So right now i'll go for PvE , though i would like more of the big PvP

I am going to select PvP but really I like both when done right. I rather us see MMO's split up between the two. Focus on a great PvE experience or focus on a great PvP experience. I feel too often both suffer when both are in the game. (Not to say there can't be hybrids that work)

as someone else already said, cooperation, voted PvE since havent tried any good cooperative PvP in an MMO yet...but then ranted enough about PvP in MMOs, simply finding shooters free online part and fast action soo much better -every time Ive tried PvP in MMOs ppl have treated it like any other FPS.
I voted PVP under the pretense that there is player interaction (Buildingg cities, taking them down, kings fighting each other and sending assassins left and right, businesses fighting over customers and of course good ol fights between opposing guilds). No games offer that though.
Now the lame PVP acronym which represents player avatars being allowed to kill each pther in open world or instances.

I enjoy both, but I chose PvE. I would happily play a game that was PvE only, but I would probably pass on a game that was PvP only. All said and done, I prefer PvE with optional PvP thrown in.
Would have choosen "both" if it were there. Humans like diversity :-)
You got a bit tired of PvP? Ok lets go farm some monster / do dungeon or go raid.
You got a bit tired of PvE? Get a group and go have some fun. Or test your limits and go solo and start messing up with people.
For me is a diversity the key word. At the end i wouldnt play a MMO which relys only on one aspect. It would get quick old and wouldnt be fun any more.

PS : Voted PvP (FPS history).
That's the accidental beauty of the Trammel band-aid that was placed on the UO servers. You can easily bounce your characters back and forth between the PvP and PvE mirrors of the same game world. You don't have to have play different servers and if you get sick of a particular facet, you can just hop tot he other without ahving to pay some server transfer fee or leave your character's assets behind or anything.

It sepends on the game - I love PvP in Eve (and hopefully Perpetuum) but PvP in most other games is so carebear it really shouldn't be classed as PvP. No loss, no risk, no damage, no reward = no point.
I will play a game that has all PVE and no PVP. If PVE is good and PVP sux I'll still play.
Other than shooters (like BF:H or APB) I won't play a game that has all PVP and no PVE. If PVP is good but PVE sux I'll probably not play.

Yep, I have to say both. While I do spend about 70% of my time doing PVE activities, I need some PVP (with some semblence of control and reward to it) to keep a game interesting.

For me, the question is answered by the new FF coming out. I prefer PvE mosty and always have. The person I become when devoting or playing PvP senarios too long I don't like. It is a different mind set, I like to solve problems based on viable rules and expectations. PvP is more of a Choas structure when rules sometimes don't come in to play. I play the game to have fun and for me that way is PvE, that could always change as time progresses but for now I stay clear of PvP dominate structures. A small mixture maybe once n' a while, but nothing more than that.
PvE. I detest PvP, if it's open world PvP that I cannot opt out of, I won't play the game. So long as it's optional, I don't mind if it's a part of the game though, I just won't take part.
I really don't like PvP in an MMORPG as it usually comes down to random numbers, gear and level, rather than any real skill. PvP should stay in games that are designed for it, like the once awesome Planetside. That was a true PvP game, I'd play something like that. PvP in something like EverQuest or Lord of the Rings Online. No thanks.

Both.
guess I should have added a both button lol, but really this is one that sells you more to the game than the other.

Both. Co-op PvE and PvP.

PvE. I am ok with optional PvP. If it's open world free for all, no sale.
EQ1, EQ2, SWG, SWTOR, GW, GW2 CoH, CoV, FFXI, WoW, CO, War,TSW and a slew of free trials and beta tests
I voted for PVP but you should have put..

Both, but voted PvE because that's a requirement and has to be really good for me to enjoy a game.
However, I love good PvP. I just haven't found any due to problems of one kind or another.

Both again. Can't really choose between them.
Pvp sold me to Lineage 2 and I loved it (pve was terribly grinding and boring).
Pve sold me to wow which I loved it too. (pvp is pointless)
It's kinda hard finding both at the same level in a game though.

EvE doors
See the best doors on EvE-on!
mainly PvP, but the PvE has to be at least decent. WAR is a great example of decent PvP but unbearable PvE, so no cigar...

PVE, with no PVP if pobbile, although I don't mind if there's a little bit of PVP.
