The BEST place to Pre-Order?

shadout00shadout00 Member Posts: 253

Just thought I'd start a topic about this. I plan on getting the CE but I'd really like to know where you all have ordered from. After having been screwed in the past by Gamestop and Amazon on certain games, I am unsure where to pre order from to ensure I get my codes for early start.

Any thoughts? Please post your experiences.

HMV are good but then again they can be hit or miss, they'll ship on the monday/tues of release week to get it to you by thurs/fri.. if you do special delivery they'll wait for the thursday to ship.

I'm thinking I'll shop around, I want this in my hands day of release or day before but you can't be sure the servers will be running the day before lol

Just to point out the 'early start' with FFXIV isn't like other MMOs where you get an early access code, the early start is simply a boxed version of the game that is launched early so the code will be in the box, not in an email...

So the people who buy the regular edition will get a code in an email? I dont fully understand.

There is no headstart for the regular version, as far as I know. The headstart is only for those who purchase the collector's edition.

    Yeah what Heartless said.

Only the Collector's Edition includes the headstart and the physical box (containing all necessary registration codes) is shipped out in time for it, there is no early access code sent out by e-mail.

Okay that is good to know. Many of the previous MMOs stated this as a code that allows you to play earlier than everybody else. I guess there is no problem then if the CE ships 8 days prior to the regular edition. I think that Square Enix thought this more carefully through than many of the other companies out there.

I'd still like to know companies you all can stand behind that deliver exactly on the street date. I have ordered from Gamestop before and though they guarantee street date delivery, that did not happen with Halo 3 or Aion.

I pre-ordered from Amazon this time cuz they offered a ship option that guarantees delivery on 9/22/10.  For some reason, Gamestop isn't offering the CE for in-store pick up on release day (regular version is available for pre-order with in-store pick up on release day... go figure).

This way, if Amazon doesn't deliver to me on 9/22, I can just go buy it in the store (I'm pretty confident that I can get a copy from one of the like 100 retailers within 10 miles of me) and return the Amazon one for a refund.
