Hello again! My question this time is: how will gear work in FFXIV? Specifically: will there be green (common), blue (rare), purple (epic) gear? Where the purple gear is always more preferable because it ALWAYS has better stats? OR will it be like FFXI where those lvl 33 gloves will be your endgame hand gear because it's just SO good even when you have lvl 75 gear?
Also how will gear be acquired? Will there be instances where you can farm the one boss all day until you have 25 decent pieces of gear? Or will there be 25 rare mobs (NMs) that spawn @ different times through out the day and you need to hussle to get the kill hehe?
One more question: That being said with the gear and the mobs, does anyone know if crafting will even be needed? We've all played recent MMO's... it's not even worth spending the money to craft because bosses drop better gear to wear than anything you could craft, and bosses drop better gear/things to sell and make MORE money than anything you could do crafting.
Even FFXI had this, before they changed the Emperor Hairpin drop to a rar/ex, it was MORE worthwhile to sit and camp him for a day and sell the hairpin than to attempt to get your craft skill to 60+ and HQ nice things. (Not too mention, crafting to 60+ usually put you so deep in the red you'd have to HQ a shit ton just to get back in the positive).
Granted FFXI did have some things that were crafted that everyone loved, the elemental staves that EVERY caster had to have, and certain pieces of gear that everyone always wanted, it was still annoying to get a craft to 94+2 only to find there's just a couple of things you can craft that you actually need, the rest was all Dynamis/HNM/sea/Sky/Limbus drops...
Not that my taru blm was a gear whore... but he was definetly whoring up the gear ^.^
PS: Another thing that can happen in modern MMO's... levelling up your crafting skill, to make money easier, and with the money you make: BUYING boss dropped gear! /hate /hate
