I swore I would never pre-order any game.

But as soon as I get motivated enough to put my clothes on (which might be tommorrow, but still) I'm going to Gamestop and i'm going to preorder FF14.

Oh come now, we all know you're doing it for that early access to some Miqo'te tail instead...hehe

  • booskAbooskA Member UncommonPosts: 79

I couldn't pass up the full week of early access either. Just enough time to tradeskill a bunch and fill my shop for the influx of the regular edition people. ^___^

    Oh please don't say thatimage

I played AoC during beta, early acces, and at launch then quit like 3-4 months afterwards.  I refused to pay for a game that was so broken.  I went back to AoC about a month ago just to kill time til FFXIV and its still broken to some extent.  I don't think anything/anyone can be as worse as what Funcom(failcom).

Yeah man, if you weren't 100% sure that you are going to like this game, I wouldn't go and pre-order it yet.

They are either doing something very differently, or are setting themselves up for a disappointment.

Of course I have my own opinion, but no way I can convince everyone that that is indeed what they are doing.

I would pre-order this thing a week before release, because at that point it's going to be obvious what will happen.

Right now, many things can happen. It's risky, and man if it's making me nervous.

They're not going to Funcom themselves, that much I know for sure though. There's very few bugs in this game in it's current state. There's content. Too bad that just might not be enough.

Using LOL is like saying "my argument sucks but I still want to disagree".

Not sure what you are talking about? Beta is working just fine. Cry me a river over a couple days of maintenance and technical difficulty.

I really am looking forward to play this game, and was following your informative posts about it...this last post makes me wonder that whats wrong with the game ? You seemed to love it earlier, but seems there are some problems which concerns you...if NDA allows it can you please explain what did you mean by 'Too bad that just might not be enough.' ?

Is that the UI or the lack of mouse support or something else ?

SAME HERE,  Fact is, they make great games and have only failed me on end game content so far......

Sooo once again, probably gonna blow the banana piggy bank on it.

The one week early access is a great incentive I can't wait to open up my shop :).

    What's there to worry about?

If you like PVE  with story/content then you can't fail with FFXIV.

    • 100% PvE focused

    • It has chocobos

    • Your class being tied to your weapon sounds really neat.  The system in general sounds like a perfect marrage of skill and class-based systems that a lot of people have been asking for for years now.

    • The WoW crowd seems to hate it

    • Group-oriented, but can still do some filler content between groups.  It seems like they've taken the system in FF11 and tweaked it to work better.  I never played FF11 but only because by the time I finally heard about it FF14 was coming out in less than a year.

    • Seems to be very challenging, especially at end-game.

If there's launch issues there's launch issues.  I was there in 2004 when WoW launched, server issues that lasted for months didn't seem to hurt Blizzard any.  I was going to wait until release day and just download it, but I want to get in a week early :)

I am pre-oredered. If things still seem sketchy on Sept 1st...i will be canceling, just in case.

Beta issues two months prior to launch really isn't a good sign. Frankly, i didn't think this game woul come out until december or so.

the 1st is alil soon you can cancel on release day no problems or day or 2 before hand. beta just started like less than 2 weeks ago of course there will be issue they are stressing the shit out of there servers as is so thats a good sign. better to have the things break now than at release because of the stress

There is not going to be 'enough' if people are expecting a WoW type quest fest game.  FFXI style camping and mob grinding to level is still going to play a big part in this game.

To be honest, quests were OK at first, but as time as gone on the flaws in the system have become apparent.  I'm actually looking forward to being able to get random groups while I'm out leveling for the first time in ten years (the random odd pug quest group that only lasts for 20 minutes I get in LOTRO at the moment excepted).

I really do think Square Enix is onto something with the idea of grind mobs for xp, do quests for other stuff.  Enough for me to pony up $75 in advance.  The worst that can happen is it can join Aion on my shelf in the list of games I preordered and didn't get my money's worth out of :P

Edit: I'm trying to be good a fanboy and you're all stirring up controversy and stuff!  *wags finger*  Also I suppose i should be my old 360 controller out, probably going to need it...

Sure, then SE can try to run all their servers off Subs from you and two other guys who were "in the know and stuck it out"

That's like hoping BP will go bankrupt. Then who cleans up the spill!

STARTING Beta 2 months before launch is insane, especially if they really have made sweeping changes from Alpha to Beta. It is common sense that this would create a measure of concern.

You must be trolling!  AOC runs perfect for me and has for over one year or so, yes it had its problems but buy a real machine and you won't have issues, conan you need a good machine to run it back then you neded a beast, I  was able to play it even at release and didn;t have as many problems that most hd but I had a beast of a machine built for conan.

Stop spreading rumors we can see you hate AOC, its ok.  I,m sure you will complaina bout FF14 and try and ruin this game to with rumors and thats all they are is rumors,

People always cry and blame the devs when 60% of the problems are on your end... Learn to fix and take care of your PC and make sure you ahve a good machine before you post rumors please.

My machine is a beast and will be more of a beast when FF14 comes out.

    i7 920 OC to 4.0

    2 x 285 and a 800gt for physx

EVGA classified E759 6 gb of RAM running at 1600mhz

Don't try to assume someone has a crappy PC unless you know them or they actually say it.  For one I don't hate Conan I love Conan been a fan since the 80's I just don't like funcom.  I play on high settings with DX9 and DX10.  AoC is still riddled with bugs even after updates.  Few of the bugs I see have been there since launch.  You also contridicted self by saying AoC has been perfect for you but it does have problems meaning its not running perfect.image

    1. DX 10 client crashes after a few hours of play.

    2. DX9 client crashes from time to time but it is random than the DX10 client.

    3.  Flickering items when you open up inventory in DX9 (seems like a sli problem)

    4.  The ocassion invisible horse and you walking on top of the horse.

    5.  Flickering Shadows

I can keep going on but this isn't a AoC thread but a FF14 and I apologize to the mods If I got out of topic in this post.  I blame the devs if they can't fix a problem that the majority is having.  Make sure you know what equipment people using before you comment and majority of the people who have a custom built machine knows how to fix their own problems.
