What happens to Guild Wars after Guild Wars 2 is released?

It'll keep rolling..just like EQ 1 , FFXI when its sequel gets released. Going to be those that enjoy the more instanced and hero/merc team mechanics then the persistant, and lack of NPC teammates in GW2. Lots of people have acheived a bevy of titles and other knickknacks and ArenaNet isn't going to nuke the servers cuase of a new MMO.
ArenaNet has said it will continue on supporting Guild Wars after Guild Wars 2 is released. With the Hall of Monuments items giving you bonuses to your characters in Guild Wars 2, I am sure people will continue to go back to Guild Wars and continue to unlock new items.
