We can only hope that XIV has the same feel as FFXI

So I was playing FFXI again the game lacks alot but its strongest point is story telling giving you those goose bumps on your arm. I hope XIV holds the same power to tell a great story from expansion to expansion.

Here is Video of what I mean.

Was there story in FF11? My experience was I couldn't find quests and you just spent your time fighting the poor controls and grinding on your own cause there was noone about.

Of course there was story; tons of it, I'd say even 85% of every quest was a cutscene that involved you directly and had NPCs addressing you personally and had you interacting with the scenes and outcome.  FFXIV guarantees a repeat performance, and at launch nearly one year worth of story to play through.

I've never played another MMO with so much story, even LOTRO is severely minimal compared to FFXI.

I played for 3 months and never saw a single cutsence.

Least not that I can remember, it was like 6-7 years ago...

The are lots of story / cs  but they dont have anythin to do with exping.is why some people didnt even saw them. The first ones are when you do the missions of your nation to rank up.You have to actually stop exping and go do this missions to get into the story and such,is why some players dont get into it until later on in the game.

I do hope we can have that on FFXIV as well, but i do hope they kinda guide you into the story at the very start so we dont have to see the expholics high lv with rank1 and such just becouse they didnt know any better but to exp exp exp.

Yeah there were a ton of cutscenes they were just in game cutscense so you might not have noticed. Although when I played I too never much got involved with the story.. except the first Windhurst story... but more story FOCUS at least would be nice. But I was happy with FFXI  regardless.

This is what people like to refer to as "nostalgia". One can try to find that perfect moment but it will never be obtained because it's the past, one can only hope for a new kind of feeling.

People who didn't nocitce a story, didn't interact with the NPCs. There were key NPCs which would trigger long stories, which first started out and simple tasks of going int oa dungeon and just and investigating. But then characters would emerge on sight, and things would start to take place. You'd have to continue to find more NPCs related to that story, and then continue t the arch. It was a LOT of running around, which is probably why people who were focusing on leveling up never took notice. You actually had to walk around the city and explore, etc.

I also hope that the story in XIV is great.  My only regret I had with XI story is that I never finished the Treasure expansion story lineimage.  I quit in the middle of that expansion.

This is something I hope they fix.

As the previous poster mentioned, it was very easy to miss the story.  I hope they find a way to help new players find the story lines without having to find a third party website first.

I must admit I did enjoy the story aspect of what I got in XI before I left for WoW. And hope that they do the same in XIV, saw the video and that was just great. WoW had a few good ones but that was about it, and probably most people did not even experience half of them in WoW. It is sad that companies put so much time into them and that people just skip them, while I would understand if they where leveling there 10th alt and they had seen the story already I do not understand skipping the story when you first encounter it. Ah well its just my like of the story that I dont even mind it if I am on my 10th alt and seeing it for the 10th time.
