I'm a gamer at heart, having lost count of how many games i've played in my lifetime.
What i love most is getting 1 particulair game and setting my teeth in it, since i can spend hours on end running around and do quests, PvP, PvE in groups, get shinies etc., hence my love for MMO(rpg)'s
Hate me for it, but i've played WoW on and off since the korean Beta's, and always loved to the game untill i've ran through practically all the content there was, getting back in there with an expansion, rinse and repeat .. Love/hate the game, and probably will be getting sucked back in with Cataclysm (and quit 4 or 5 months later).
Got myself a couple of weeks to kill tho in the vacation time, and desperately looking for a game that can get me hooked again, if only for a couple of weeks (tho hoping it to be longer).
Any of u that can really name a game that has a 'polished' feel? Warhammer Online for example always seemed cool with the races, classes and lore, but never had that 'smooth' feeling, which is why i left it even though i loved the Public quest system or the sieges in PvP. Downloaded Allods, thusfar liking it but read more then one bad comment about the game beyond lvl 10 or so ..
Also i love the feeling of an 'open world', a fluent streaming place, unlike say Age of Conan or City of Heroes/Villains. Somehow i just can't help but feel being 'limited' in my experience of immersing in the game world when i walk into sorts of invisible walls and the world suddenly .. ends .. I can understand making (instanced) zones has the positive effects of less system requirements and easier breakdown of specific character level content, but i just loved the fact of getting my mount in WoW, and ride around an entire world, going where i please. Also the idea of running into other peeps rather then be confined to me or my group adds something.
Lastly i hope to find a game with end-game content, be it raids, dungeons or (mass) PvP (battlegrounds or not). The whole appeal of getting shinies through hard work, PvP for a castle or whatsoever as an accomplishment or getting deeper into certain lore due to bosses or rewards after the leveling up part. Just something that makes me feel happy that i went through all the growing process from simple n00b to someone (or thing) to be reckoned with in some way.
Anyone has suggestions? Be it F2P or payed for, preferably something which is 'easy' to get in to (as to be able to get friends to get into it when i'm excited). Dungeons and Dragons Online for example, like it, but none of my friends are into the mathematics of how dmg is calculated or what AC does, so next to zero chance to get them along in the game.
Aion for example, is it any good?
Or should i get into LotRo once it gets F2P?
Comments
Aion is very polished, BUT it doesn't have that open feel you are looking for. Invisible walls, small maps and being guided from one place to another.
Ahh so that's probably not my thing .. thnx for the response tho.
Friend of mine who also seeks something similair is heavily into Star Trek, reading vary mixed reviews about ST Online tho. Anyone has any knowledge about it?
I was recently told to try Vanguard and Eve Online, tho not sure if Vanguard is worth is with the near dead population.
Anyone with suggestions if which to try and perhaps why?
Aion is worth a try, but does feel somewhat confined, i also think dungeons and dragons is lacking. I am in the same postion as you always get drawn back to wow, love it or hate it, looking for that next mmo.
Perfect World is a pretty simple game with many mounts and a vast and diverse world.
