The Ultimate LFG- Can you figure one out?

Perhaps I'm trying to recapture something that is fleeting or non-existent, but here we are.  I'm an old school mmo guy.  I started on eq1 and have been "casually" hooked since.  I'm looking for something that is with the investment.

Servers note: I've never been very committed to RPing though I do tend to gravitate towards those servers due to maturity level.  So I'd like at least the option of an rp community. Also, I'm looking for a game that isn't dead.  By dead, I mean has/will have players.  This can be current or "coming soon."  Below are my stipulations:

1. Grind-  Can have a bit, but I'd prefer a more interactive (quests or story based mob kill quests)

2. PVP- I would like at least the option of pvp.  Though PvE is what I love to do, the hours can be dull.

3. Ease of Use-  I don't want to spend hours watching tutorial vids on youtube as I did with EvE.  I'd like to learn through experience or short in game tutorials. It doesn't have to be simple, just compatible with A.D.H.D. me.

4. Interactive World-  I'd like to have the option of sitting on a stool every once in a while.

5. No dancing Elves-  I'd prefer something that doesn't involve naked people running around.

6.  Few elitists-  I teach these kids every day.  I don't want them invading my free time as well.  I have fun playing...sometimes that involves wipes and failures.  I don't want to be harassed because of it.

7.  Corp Control-  If possible, I'd like to find a game that is not run or operated by a team that may pull the plug in a year or two.  MMO's are as much of an investment to me as they are the company.  I have to have faith that they won't fold in a month.

8.  Housing-  This is a must.  I loved the housing options in DAoC.

9.  Soloability-  Sure grouping is where it is at in MMO's, but sometimes I feel antisocial and would like to work on characters.  There has to be at least an option for this.

10.  Non-linear-  I don't like the heavy-handed nature of some games.  I'd prefer it to be open world instead of linear progression.  An example of overly linear would be DDO and even Aion.

11.  Crafting-  Must have. This is important to me.  For example, Vanguard has a crafting mini game I enjoy.

12.  Sub based- F2P is alright, but I'd prefer sub.

13.  Open world-  Not the instance type aka, Guild Wars.

14.  I'd prefer something history or fantasy- but this is not a deal breaker.

15.  No FPS-  I keep my FPS on the console thank you.

17.  Community-  As mentioned this is one of the more important.  I'd like them to be active and friendly if possible.

18.  Visuals-  I'd prefer no cartoon looks, but I enjoyed WAR's level construction so this might be dependent on the type of style.  On the other hand, a lush environment is a plus.

Now, I know this is difficult due to all these stipulations.  This is not limited to only current gen MMO's either.  If you can give me something to look forward to, then that is just as well.   I'll now list the games I have played and what was wrong with them or what I enjoyed.  These are ones I "almost" enjoyed or did for a limited time.  No Korean-style mmo's btw.

  • DAoC- kept my attention longer than any other.  lost my attention with ToA and lack of players.

  • AoC- I play it- but the button mashing combo's and lack of dedicated healer is a  minus

  • Lotro- Enjoy the game, but it feels too quiet.  Maybe f2p will make it more lively. I find I just log on to talk to friends now.

  • WAR- no longevity or pve option if your side is outnumbered in pvp.  Crafting is a joke.

  • WoW- Community even on rp servers wasn't the best.  The character progression runs like a FPS MMO.  Enjoyed the zone layout and ambiance though.

  • Eq2- Was dead when I played.

  • UO- just didn't mesh with the style and game play in regards to pvp.

Now for a list of "not even close" titles.  These are games that didn't keep my attention beyond the initial free month.

NOTE: I'm not knocking your favorite game. These are just not my taste due to numerous reasons.  I also don't like watermelon if you want attack me for that also.

Aion, PBoS, FFXI, EVE, GW, CoH, Champions Online, Darkfall, MO, Lin2,  Free Realms, Alganon, APB

I know this may be impossible due to limitations. But, if you are a MMO sage, and I'm hoping there are a few, I'd like your opinions or even a suggestion that I might try.  No flames please.  No fights.  Just post your ideas and why you believe it may meet my specifications.  I truly thank you for any advice you might have, even if it's simply putting a new game on a radar.  Thank you in advance.

    Umm....Ultima?

You pretty much listed every game that could possibly come to close to what you would want. I wish you luck. Let me know if you find it, sounds like a pretty sweet game.

Yeah, I'm thinking that might be general consensus.  I'm hoping though someone out there will know something I'm not aware of.

Thank you for Ultima.  I'll add that to the list of almosts.
