Are there any interesting MMO's that are worth playing out?

Hello fellow MMO players, I'm aware that many of you may have become bored of MMO's, well I'm more bored not playing one.

Here's a quick list of what I have played and what I disliked about them;

1. WoW - Internet Trolls and really unfriendly nature of most people, plus hackers stole account and Blizz banned me.

2. Aion -  Teleporting being the only way to city and quest area, and it's too expensive.

3. Dungeons & Dragons Online -  Stats and skill building are too complex.

4. Everquest II - Terrible processing of graphics (even when using a good high end computer)

5. Runes of Magic - Lags like hell.

6. Lord of the Rings Online - Can't get my orginial account back for some reason.

7. Warhammer Online - European players got fucked up and I can't update to the Mythic servers, the patcher client won't work anymore.

So excluding the ones I've mention, what else is there left to play or should I not bother since MMO's are not for socialising anymore since I don't have real life friends?

Because of those things, you've just ruled out any game worth mentioning. I heard there are some pretty cool grind-feast F2P though. Perfect world, and what not. I wouldn't touch em though.

I'm not sure what you mean but Dungeons & Dragons Online does have stats that don't make sense to me and it's hard to know what skills are most important for your character, yet in World of Warcraft the stats are simple and easy to understand, sure talent building can be hecktic but at least the words used are not all jargon.

Anyway, what's so bad about Perfect World?

Eve, Ryzom, FF11, Global Agenda, etc? Quite a few great games.

  • donjndonjn Member UncommonPosts: 816

Give Ryzom a shot. Nice sandbox..

  • TazlorTazlor Member UncommonPosts: 864

you seem like you have some computer issues....try global agenda.

  • KarahandrasKarahandras Member UncommonPosts: 1,703

there's one called planeshift that could be worth checking out, it's open source and development isn't following the traditional nature so not sure what's there and what isn't atm

like others have said ryzom is worth a try and there's an earth and beyond emu in its final stress test you could look into

You could always give Age of Conan, Darkfall, and Fallen Earth a try. They have free trials currently.

i think pw got turned into junk because of the cash shop, sort of like allods but not quite to that extent

bounty bay could be worth a shot aswell

If you want to give d&do another shot(i think turbine are taking over the eu servers) it's worth going to their compendium http://compendium.ddo.com/wiki/Compendium_Home  and sorting out your skills/build that way first (can also be accessed through the game now i think

Ragnarok online, very discreet cash shop, no way to access it in game. Very fun game, tons of different classes and builds from Ninja to gunslinger to Assassin cross. It's a ton of fun, it is grindy, but the music in the game is so beautiful that you'll tolerate it. It's got PvP and PvE options. It's click to move though, you may not like that.

Honestly, give it a whirl, great community(a bit young), great game.

    I'm free on Friday.

    FFXI.

  • RudyRaccoonRudyRaccoon Member UncommonPosts: 475

Not sure about any of these, FFXI is a turn-based game like the other Final Fantasy games are, Bounty Bay looks boring, Ragnarok Online uses cheap sprites guessing from gameplay videos on Youtube, Age of Conan has you controlling a sword which is not good if you want to focus on attack skills as well, Darkfall is skill based and is PvP heavy (why must you lose attack skill if you use another is bad I say), Fallen Earth has snipers ready to kill you (I don't like games now that have FFP shotting elements like Modern Warfare 2) , Ryzom I really don't get what all this camping business is all about and Global Agenda is another shotter game where you die instantly.

If that is your take on gaming, I believe you have to quit gaming sir/ma'am. Sorry. The things you seek don't exist yet.

Slight corrections however... Early ideas of Darkfall had skill decay in mind but it was tossed out once the game launched. Once you level a skill in Darkfall it will always be that level until you level it some more. You can max out your character, it just takes a long time because the grind is as close to insane as any MMORPG will come.

Ragnarok is a fairly older game, it's very professional and polished since it has been around for so long. The sprites are far from bad, and the game is actually quite nice to look at once in game and the music is wonderful of course.

Not sure what you mean when you say "the things you seek don't exist yet"? That's strange, I thought Darkfall had skill decay, I saw a video of someone doing pvp, he was Fireballing and meleeing so that you make use of all skills and not stick with one skill type?

I'm not sub'd to anything right now. I play the Wii with my girlfriend and old school SNES RPG's. Try Age of Conan. It's fun, but it's more of the same old same old. It's at least good for killing time until the 'next big thing' comes along.

Yes that's right. The way the game is now is heavily weighted toward becoming a hybrid of all three play styles: Melee, Archery, and Magic. To be the best requires a combination of all three, you can be effective with any of them individually depending on how good you are and how developed your character is though. In the end though you will still use melee with magic, even if minimally, and you will still use magic if you're heavily melee oriented.

[edit] - As for me comment, you had a pretty good slew of games listed to you there, plus all the ones you've played. You've pretty much experienced what MMOs have to offer, if you haven't liked what you've seen so far it may be time to move on to something else for now.
