I am quite sure you understand what I meant (ingame global channel). But thanks for making that point so that less mmorpg experienced people can understand.
WoW Barren global channel is so bad probably most of the high level people have their global channel off while passing Barren. (Barren is one of the newbie zone about level 10-20)
I just turn of global chat channels, only the trade channel and the locals are open. This is just because I roleplay and global chat is just in the way and mostly unintressting. Only time general chat goes on is when I'm getting lag and relogging doesn't work and want to see if someone else has te same problem.
Guild chat is something different, those are normally a bunch of friends grouping together and helping eachother. But a global channel where all people are? No way for me, takes to much attention if you want to follow it as well.

I disagree with your opinion. I am a veteran mmorpg player, and have played all the mmorpg. The global channel is getting worst. Too many ppl now are playing mmorpg without reading the mmorpg ethiquet. Too many mmorpg players now are too self centered, and doesnt try to be considerate.

I disagree. By commenting on it in an intelligent manner to the developers (or where the developers can hear) a solution may be found. Whether or not this is realistic is beside the point. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />
Also, your argument, "Learn to live with it, because there is absolutely nothing you can do to stop it" is one of the more unthought-through reasonings there is. Really, apply it to something that bothers you and see if it is at all reasonable. (e.g. murder, pedophiles, AOL, etc..)
it would be easy to stop this all you have to do is get rid of global channel its not very realistic at all just put in local area channels only way you can global chat is if your a GM thats the way it should be

All hail the *ignore* command
Unfortunatly it kinda sucks when half the community ends up on your ignore list.
