MMO with live voice chat AND text chat?

Does it exist? If not then why doesn't it? Would you want it and why?
It's a real pain when you're in the middle of killing something and you have to tell your team something whilst moving/attacking/healing etc.
I know what you're thinking, "Just use ventrilo or Teamspeak". You could, but there are other situations, such as some random person trying to kill you. How are you supposed to tell the guy how many powerful friends you have when you're running away + healing + panicking? Also, setting up TS or Vent takes time, you need to give out IPs, passwords etc. Fine if you always speak to the same people but if you're grouping with different people for short times it can get tedious and annoying.
I know what else you're thinking, a bunch of kids swearing and screaming like on consoles. This could be prevented with a simple 'mute' button so you can turn it off when you dont want to be 'disturbed'.
Not only that but you'd get a waay better atmosphere, ok hearing a 50 year old's voice from a female nightelf might be a bit 'ehhh' but in games where RP isn't a huge factor, like Fallen Earth, APB etc.

NO NO NO! There needs to at least be text chat always in a game. WoW I guess more or less did it right when the put in VoIP into their game which I never saw anyone use while I played.
I would not even sub let alone buy a game that had no text chat even if SW:TOR did it that way. I mean really how would general chat work? Most games also have factions so in PvP you arent supposed to understand the other side at least in all the ones I have played outside of SWG.
Text chat is the only way a lot of things could get done... let alone the extra server costs you would have to pay in your sub or initial purchase. I think WoW got away with it because they can just release a mount can buy for 5 bucks and make millions off of just that.

Answers your whole question right there.... if there is a mute option how would you hear the people you want to talk to? It would be way too complicated to just mute everyone but the people you want not muted >.<
It could be done, but have you played modern warfare 2 online lately? The absolute nonsense that goes on in the voice chat is horrendous. Everyone would pretty much have to mute everyone thats not on their friends list which then what would be the point? They have programs like ventrillo that allow for voice communication with those you trust not to blow your ears up with garbage..
Ofcourse there would be a text option as well, but there are moments in the game (at least for me) where I just want to tell something to someone quickly. I do understand that these moments wouldn't really arise in games such as WOW where it's easier to just die as nothing actually happens.
With the mute feature, I mean temporarily turning it off to everyone when you're in a town, or actually, it could be completely disabled in towns.
Maybe I shouldn't of said "INSTEAD".. think of the voice chat as an extra when you want to communicate something fast to someone.
Also, dont think of this in your traditional fantasy MMO, but games like Fallen Earth, APB etc.

But by changing "Instead" to "Also" Completely changes the question. I know WoW has this already and as I said before I have never had anyone I played with use it. As far as games with no real faction or race barriers I dont see a problem with having both... but one way or another you are going to have to pay the price difference in server costs because I have a feeling making a whole game have the option to have voice all the time isnt terribly cheap >.<
I like the idea , as long as it is like swg system and you have the option to use text chat aswell. Nothing more annoying than people asking you to go to their vent to hang out, especially when you can't always be in the vent for real life reasons. One of mine is , the old lady (my wife) sleeps during the night, I sleep during the day or early morning to mid day. Sometimes I get up in the morning, but anyhow she sleeps way early than i do , and i cant get in vent all the time because then I would be waking up my wife and she isn't a happy camper, let me just put it like that.
I been in vent and use to go in vent for 2 different guilds I have been in, but out of the blue it can be awkward in vent sometiimes. I hate the awkwardness of vent.
Text chat must always be there as another option to communicate.

Yes it does have intergrated voice comms. I cant think of any other MMO that have it.
I didnt know EvE had it lol guess thats because my friends that play it arent in a corporation or whatever XD
But yeah WoW has had it for a while now
Dungeons & Dragons Online has both built into the game.
LoTRO also has voice chat. It is a necessity for high-level dungeons and raiding. I don't know why other MMOs don't have this. It seems like it should be part of every MMO.
It is out there as pointed out WoW has it but honestly I did not see it used much. But it is WoW so.... playerbase most of the time have the mentality of hurry up I need to move on to something else so they do not want to even talk or text for that matter. Don't jump all over me WoW players you know its true, I played/play WoW and I can attest to this.
But in WOW it's not like chat though is it? As in, only people within X rane hear you?
