Gamers enraged over no progress on fixing lag lash out against CCP.

The CCP devs suggest that their playerbase vote for EVE as best European game, which leads to a massive storm of angry posts.

It does have that whole..."Are you serious?" thing going for it like one of the posters said.

They just do not get it.  They hooked up with all their buddies on Friendster who said it would be great to play Barbies in Space...and lost touch with our fictional reality!

I suppose it goes hand-in-hand with the "Spatial Distortion" article:

    http://www.eveonline.com/news.asp?a=single&nid=4017&tid=7gn=eveonline

I get that some issues are not easy/quick fixes, but both of these things (the linked article and the OP) come across as being in poor taste when they seem to be losing the good will of a significant amount of players.

Still enjoy the game and all, but not enjoying some of the more visible CCP posts lately.

That wasn't exactly worth slashdotting tbh.
It's just a regular thread on the forums. The 84 page excellence thread, the csm minutes or the very verbose reactions to the latest zulu devblog would be much better /. material.

Disagree. The more attention that is brought to this issue the better. It's straight up bullshit that the players have to deal with this when the game experience would be so much better if lag was taken more seriously by CCP.

That said, I don't think that CCP doesn't care and I don't think it's exactly a simple issue considering the scale of this single-shard operation.

    Does this thread:  http://www.mmorpg.com/discussion2.cfm/thread/286029/This-is-why-our-MMOs-are-going-to-be-trash.html

Explain what CCP is doing as they become more "business-like" in their dealings?

The 'please vote for us' post couldn't have come at a worst time IMHO and showed total disrespect towards the playerbase.

CCP's image is crumbling at the moment ...

CCP NGEing themselves without even having an NGE to show for it might make the geek news.

Especially considering the number of pre-CU vets that made Eve home when the NGE destroyed SWG.

That is sad to say the least,i have seen similar anics by F2P developers, the game itself should need no encouragement,if it is good, the players will let others know.

Aeria games tried this exact same tactic and even went as far as to offer in game bonuses to those who started up fanbois threads praising their games.

It is really sad to see so many threads popping up in all game forums that have to do with players/customers being lied to or ripped off or hacked, developers seem to be in an anti customer relation mode, dog eat dog sort of mentality.

No, we're getting hot and bothered because the game we're paying for is broken, and CCP haven't made an serious commitment to fix it until we did get all hot and bothered.

Make no mistake: this isn't about the CSM minutes. Those minutes (or rather: Zulupark's blog confirming that they were accurate in the important detail) were just the spark that ignited the fire. This has been a long time building.

CCPs commitment is the same as it's always been.  They're doing the same thing they've always done.  Nothing has changed except player expectations.  Were you there is the begining of eve online?  Suddenly the game less now than it was then?  lol

Eve is doing pretty good for a single shard MMORPG that gets all of its revenue from new players and subs fees and if you don't think so stop paying CCP and wait until they've fixed the parts that you want them to fix and if you bought a yearly sub I'll laugh at you for being stupid enough to know about the NGE and still place that kind of faith with a company that makes MMORPGs.

Yeah we know, that's the problem

I was there last year when stuff worked. Now it doesn't. I want it to work again and I'm irritated that CCP have taken so long to start making a serious effort to start fixing it. They didn't even acknowledge the problem for over 3 months, and they took 4 more to even start doing something about it. Now that they're getting the bad headlines, all of a sudden it's "Priority 1 Carte Blanche", after nearly 9 months of persistent, widespread and documented player reports.

Eve is doing pretty good for a single shard MMORPG that gets all of its revenue from new players and subs fees and if you don't think so stop paying CCP and wait until they've fixed the parts that you want them to fix

Done already. It runs out in 27 days.

and if you bought a yearly sub I'll laugh at you for being stupid enough to know about the NGE and still place that kind of faith with a company that makes MMORPGs.

I was on a 3 month repeat subscription. Even if CCP do repair what they broke, and I do decide to return, I will be paying with PLEX in the future. They've exhausted their credibility with a large set of the playerbase including myself. If you are trying to say this is just about a few people making a lot of noise, then you're wilfully ignoring the facts.

CCP have assumed that their existing customers' patience with issues being neglected while new customers were chased with half-finished, half-broken "new shiny" was infinite just when it turned out that it was exhausted. EVE is a great game, and people like me are prepared to put up with a lot for the sake of that greatness. But there are limits and CCP have reached that limit.

I hope they get the message, get a clue and get their act together.

The lag is being worked on and has always been worked on.  Always.

There is large disparity between what CCP says, do and plan for lag issue and common sense would tell you that you fix something as broken as currently lag is before unleashing even more issues.

The way CCP always worked was to 'leave it for tomorrow', this is sort of acceptable for new content but completely unacceptable for content already released.

It is one of the big failures on CCP side that they make no difference between new and old content.

Working on is not enough, lag needs to be fixed.

So is eve a crappy game?  A lot of people say it's the best mmorpg but how can that be with this thread?

'Crappy game' does not really mean anything...it depends on whom you ask, how and what are the attributes you value.

Even then it will be subjective and quite meaningless.

Eve has stability issues. Once ccp fixes them everyone will stfu and go back to being faithful ccp supporters.
Other complaints like ccp losing focus due to them working on incarna and ignoring stuff like AF, rockets and hybrid buffs are your basic forum QQ we've always had.

They said they were not working on the issues. In is not an assumption , when the devs report it. Just because your not following eve news, doesn't give you the right to Assume he was assuming.

The issue is that epopel were liek wow CCP you messed up theres all these bugs and lag . . .  . we said this for 3 mnoths all the while CCP maintained everythign was kosher. Then one day faced with 5000 threads said alright right theres a problem. Nonthign on what their paln was. 4 months after ok wait 18 months until then we can't help you, becuase we are working on our new side experience for eve.... if you call that trying to fix lag. Well just don't.

They might me changing their tune shortly, but thats what is good for eve and the players. And what we want... we want the game to be playable.
