Is APB becoming a cheaters game?

SylianSylian Member UncommonPosts: 65

The reason why I'm posting this here is because RTW is apparently deleting every thread that shows they just warn cheaters the first time they catch them (not even a temporary ban). More information about this can be read at http://eu.apb.com/forums/showthread.php?t=56633.

Now, on those 10 page long deleted threads Developers didn't even bother to post and deny that they were giving a second chance to cheaters. Instead of answering they deleted the thread, so it is pretty rational to think that they are in reality giving second chances to cheaters.

While many other MMOs simply bans the cheaters and infact proudly announces that they banned X thousand cheaters and farmers, RTW being just reluctant to even ban cheaters is just absurd.

Also add the fact that APB got one of the most highest aimbotter ratios in a game (since it is a FPS and very competetive at the core), policies of RTW on cheaters is simply unbearable.

Anyway rant off, however I sincerely believe that cheaters and RTW's policies on them will be the end of the APB. Most of my friends already stopped playing just because of aimbotters and I believe many other will drop out of the game also.

Does anyone else see the irony in threads like these combined with a game based around criminals?

    Not hatin. Just sayin.

Criminals break laws in the game, not the EULA.

I don't know what % of people cheat, I've been accused on a number of occasions, but I've never cheated.   So it probably isn't as bad as many people think.  The fact that matchmaking can put you up against someone that is fully upgraded when you just  start the game is just as bad as matching you against a team full of cheaters.

All I know is that RTW has created a ridiculously unfair playing field that encourages people to pay to win, and that this game has some serious issues dealing with balance that need to be addressed.  This game was fun when the playing field was level, it was about strategy, gaining superior ground, flanking your opponents.  Now it's about having more upgrades than your opponent.

Isn't this an FPS.  It's the way the game engine is designed.  You can't get rid of wallhackers/aim botters.  You simply have to tell the client where other people are for them to be rendered.  Someone will figur eit out eventually.  This is why I don't play FPS's.  It's just way to easy to cheat.  And the cheaters always win.

There was a fairly large number of bans just a week or so ago when they turned PB on for afew days.  Though they had to turn it back off to fix a intermittent lag issue that it was causing. I imagine to see it get turned back on in a perm style within the next few weeks.

Unfortently hacks are out there for every game. Regardless of the type of game it is. There are several hacks that work just fine with World of Warcraft. From being able to walk underground and kill enemy's with easy to other odds and ends.

Sadly when it comes to online gaming there is a fine line between there being lag due to the server handling too much info and cases where the client handles too much.

It's impossible to have everything unfortently. Large scale battles almost require the client to handle some of the work in question and that leads to exploitable areas.

As I stated in another thread, I think it may be a case of a small number of hackers, but they are spead out amongst the most populous servers which may give the illusion they are more prevalent than they really are.

From my experience, i tend to have greater success either running solo or in a group of two.  When you get a full group and its 4 vs 4, that's where I think most of the cheating seems to be.  Also there seems to be more cheating in the later hours, where as mornings seem to be better.

This is just my perception ofcourse.

Does PB stand for Punkbuster?  If so,  why do you even bother with a game that uses it?  I am (was) a die hard Battlefield series fan for a loooong time.  I quit because it seems ALOT of people were cheating.    On Bad Company 2, it says the player has been banned from THAT server but not have the account banned.  People caught cheating with PB should have their account banned from the game period. Yes, PB does catch those people sometimes but to me it is a horrible anti-cheating program.  Cheaters know how to beat PB.  Once you beat PB,  the game is yours to do as you like.  I am glad you said this game uses PB because I was going to try it out and now I'm not.
