Maybe he'd even hire a professional designer/engineer to "help" me. Would all the world's plebs be hailing me a genius for it? I know there's a sucker born every minute, but this is ridiculous.

Have you even played the game? There's barely any content up and the only way to progress is to pump your cash into it. Repair costs for your ship grossly outweigh anything you can hope to bring in with your newbie ship. It was obviously designed at minimal costs with the objective of raking in the pocket change.

It is cool that this kid is out there "running" this little project of his, and more power to him for being able to, but I wouldn't go so far as labeling him the next Beethoven.

Where is your evidence that he is a "rich kid with a multimillionare father that hired a web designer..."?  i didn't watch all the videos, but all the articles that I've seen seem to say the same thing and they don't mention his father at all.

"Peter's dad, also called Peter, was the founder of medical diagnostics company Randox Laboratories."

Not going to spoon feed you beyond that. The information is available in the OP.

this kind of browser based games come almost complety done.

all he had to do was grabbing a template and change the name of enemies areas and equipment and fill the quest text with watever he liked...the sort of thing that your 85yo granny could do....

The envy in this thread is increidible, but not surprising. Really brings out the immaturity of many on this site. The only things missing are the " I've never played it but this games sucks " posts

Nice psychoanalysis job there Dr Philby. God forbid some people have the intuition and deductive sense to see through a few layers of bullshit. Hey, maybe all the people calling out and exposing these Maddoffs and Enrons are just jealous, am I right?

All of a sudden everyone with a non PC opinion gets labeled "envious" or "bitter". The very same people throwing out those inane accusations are first in line to buy whatever snake oil the corner con is hawking.

Wake up... It's one thing to admire another's greatness, but to kneel before anyone without substantial merit; especially in this day and age of overly marketed bullshit, is asinine at best.

The computer game was developed by Omnisoft Services Ltd. (www.omnisoftservices.com). Big thanks to Jonathan (Lead Programmer) and Peter and Michael (Graphics) and Andrew (Marketing) and of course Peter who if it wasn't for you this game would never have even been considered ;)

So its not like he made it all by himself. He did some of the art and designed the theme. Any 11 year old kid with enough help could do this if they wanted to.

Pretty cool. Hopefully he stays inspired and grows up to be a good game designer.

Why are people hating on an 11 year old kid? I don't really like memes, but umadbrah?

Honestly, this article feels the same way that a manufactured pop star feels when they're making their debut.

In this case, the hook is an 11-yo genius who contributed an unidentified level of assistance in the making of the game, although a software development company is in the background if you care to actually go looking for it. And of course, there's the viral marketing and media campaigns that characterize any Facebook game release. And the in-game cash bonuses for referring FB friends, of course.

As for playing the game? Hmm... I appear to be able to start up a game without actually having an account, much less having my email address verified. Of course, I can never re-login with the same info. But they're naturally happy to accept my money. My opinion of Omnisoftware sure is going down the tubes here.

If the kid was actually involved in the real programming, props to him. Could have a really nice future ahead of him in software design. But that would be to his personal credit, not that of this game.

I have no idea how much is involved with making a game these days. I saw someone mention there are templates available to do most the work for a person.

I had to make a Pac-Man game in Assembler for my CSC 365 course at Univ of Michigan - Flint back in 94. Hardest program I probably ever completed due to collision detection. In the old days it made knowing who was tech literate pretty simple. These days, with "Wizards", it is akin to "connect the dots" coloring books.

If this kid did it all on his own, then it is impressive. If his Dad put him up to it, and hired the work done, then shame on them. Although I will say if just the idea come from the kid, it still shows he has an eye for things. Having a keen eye isnt Earth shattering....but we are still talking about an 11 yr old.

Asking Devs to make AAA sandbox titles is like trying to get fine dining on a McDonalds dollar menu budget.

Well, I guess that knocked the OP out of the ballpark. Nice find.

I'm sorry, but an 11 year old kid making a high quality multiplayer web game is deserving of praise. This kid is obviously very talented.

I don't understand why so many of you would want to be negative about his accomplishments. Even if you don't like the game, be happy for the kid. He's done an impressive thing! What is the point in being a jerk about it!?

Do these 11 year olds play WoW?

now I see why people complain about how WoW has so many 11 year old players.

They too smart and skilled for most older gamers to handle
