I was wondering if Final Fantasy XIV will have downleveling,as in if you die with very little experience into your new level you downlevel back to the old level?

    Good question.

I haven't seen anyone complaining about it, so I'm guessing it's not in the current beta :P

Thats cool, I don't mind loosing exp and breaking equipment, but I was never a fan of downleveling every since I played everquest back in the day.

its in beta, could easily be changed for the release ;P

naw doesnt seem like they will have more than the downtime, waiting for revive and the sickness debuff to go away....some might go all RAWR over that, but is about the same time as am used to already

I hope they have downleveling, or at least give you a 5% buffer after you ding.  That would prevent people from exploiting the inability to lose exp right after the ding (suicide pulls to split mobs, etc.) .  A 5% artificial buffer would let you die once after dinging without un-dinging you.

[edit] I just remembered "experience debt" implented by some MMO's. That works too, but not at endgame.  You should be able to lose your max level if you die too much at endgame.

See I disagree, downleveling is just a tab bit to annoying. Now as I said I don't mind losing experience or even increase the amount of experience you need to level if you die.

I defently agree on items breaking if you don't fix them and they get a bit to worn they break and you have to get new ones.

Why? Well it increase the value of the items also allows the game designers to allow let said items drop more.
