It was always Henriks vision to have guild versus guild wars. This game isn't supposed to be an exact 3d rip off of UO. Player cities, territory controk, guild versus guild combat was planned since the begining. The game is getting closer and closer to it's creators original concept.
Right now you have an open sandbox game with argueably the best Housing system and crafting syste in any MMO game ever, and it's only improving from here.
Monday there's supposed to be a patch that lets players have "stores" in there houses. Right now houses are fairly uncommon due to the fact that they expensive and take a long time to build, and all the crafting stations you can put in a house are available for free in the cities. Player houses are going to be popping up everywhere after Mondays patch. I would think that every major crafter in the game would want to own a playerhouse with a shop. This should bring a large boost to the player economy making trade much easier and more interesting.
Ofcourse with increased trade comes increased PVP over those resources and trade goods. Mondays patch is also supposed to introduce a nice guild tabbard system and further support the guild dynamic of this game.
Yes, while not exclusively geared towards guilds, this game is heavily a guild based game, like Darkfall. If you don't like guilds why play an MMO? There are plenty of casual MO guilds out there, if you don't like it go back to playing WoW.
All in all if your annoyed at the current state of the game I would suggest playing StarCraft 2 for a while and wait until the end of summer for this game to mature to a more stable, less buggy game with more sand for the sandbox.
No housing system that requires you to build in a predetermined "slot" can be considered "the best".
As for Territory Control... the concept itself is fine. If the leaked mechanics about getting "points" for killing people in the territory and 10 "points" for a house or 50 "points" for a keep turn out to be true.. well.. that's just something much closer to a CTF/Team Deathmatch than an RPG Sandbox. Guess we will see shortly, but the posts on the forum have NOT been edited by SV so I assume the details are correct...
Funny how you say "go back to WoW", but that sounds VERY much like a WoW mechanic to me...

No it was not.
The original vision was a sandbox game that featured PvP, not a PvP game that had RPG elements.
They even described it as an oldschool RPG.
You're a perfect example of what I mean by the community destroying the game. It's people like you that only want a game you can PvP in.
Instead of telling people to go back to WoW why don't you go play an FPS.
I never said that Henriks vision was to have a PvP game that had RPG elements.
You have no idea how I play this game. I have 1 crafting character and an engineer as well as a pvp character.
If I wanted to play an FPS I would play mount and blade as a horse archer.
If your worried about an overly zealous community of players who actively influence what the developers priorities are maybe you should go back to WoW.
"It is first person and it is a sandbox game -- as opposed to a theme park game -- where sandbox stands for much more freedom in the world. We have chosen to have a truly action based combat. It reminds somewhat of a first person shooter in a different setting, with a lower tempo."
"If you design a game with PvP from the beginning and once you know that PvP works you can add PvE contents on top of that. So it is both a PvP and a PvE game. There is a lot of things to do in the game, basically the PvE is the whole world around you, all the encounters with monsters and a lot of interaction with players and there is where PvP comes in."

Seems like the game was ment from the very begining to be pvp with all other game contents stemming around the core pvp game.

Henrik said himself that the point thing was just something players was talking about and wanted to see what other feedback was on it and he said he thought he was right about people not wanting this.
henrik said something along those lines and i must say there is some really intresting things and this feedback thing from guilds may be the right thing.
Stuff like introducing new features, etc, different system for theivery, and making houses more viable and trying to introduce stuff for solo players.
So the players really want a rpg styled game, like someone requested food and drink system and they expanded on the idea and even talking about how the system works etc etc.
but all things start of basic and get expanded on.

I dont think thats how it works. If I remember right, its only Keeps that must be built in predetermined "slots". Regular player houses can be built anywhere as long as the terrain allows it.
At least the system is better than Darkfalls which not only has predetermined city/town slots, but the player cities are static. They cant be changes in any way. You can only tear them down and build them back up exactly as they were.

My advice is don't buy this game untill you've tried it for real. Don't let haters prevent you from trying it but dont let fanboys trick you into playing it. Wait until they release a free trial, if a few people are having a blast, most regular players will have a bitter taste after a few weeks of play.
