in Final Fantasy XIV

I read in another thread they're overhauling controls to allow better mouse and keyboard play - can anyone comment on how the game plays at the moment with keyboard and mouse only?  Thanks.

    or you can wait for beta phase III and see what people say about the improved mouse control?

    Honestly, it plays very similar to FFXI in the respect of Keyboard and Mouse. It is smooth, but realize, it was 'supposedly' designed to play with a controller.

    I play with K&M combo, and I think its fine. Its a little clunky, but from what I understand, they are fixing it prior to release.

    I've been in beta for like 2 months now?

    Little point to basing a purchase option on beta 2; especially when the system you're using as criteria has large changes announced for beta 3.

    The whole menu basis of everything makes a keyboard, very much a hassle. The gamepad, from what I can tell, would be MUCH more effective. I'm just to damn lazy to plug in my P3 controller :P

    Not to mention, I have like no time to game anymore, as work is a hassle and must be attended too >_>

    1. The controls appear to be identical to FF11 at this point in time.

    2. Once you acclimatize to FF11's use of the number pad, you forget you even have a mouse attached to your computer.

    3. Controllers are for casuals ololololo.

     

    I believe these three points make it clear that FF14's non-standard keyboard layout is the best choice.
