    YES!

Full support for DAOC 2, so long as it is STRONGLY loyal to the original.

Please, do not seed the idea that DAOC would be better without keep siege... wtf?

Siege warfare is the core of the RvR system. Should open field combat be encouraged as well? Sure!

The capture/defense of keeps, towers and relics was the foundation for the entire pvp system though, right down to the community mentality that has never been achieved in any other game.

Well, just to keep the thread going in the rare event a Mythic lurker is reading...

Agreed keep the thread going and we get the supporting posts and Ideas than it’s possible everything starts with an Idea right?

Is a graphical upgrade all that is necessary to be succssful? Same factions? Same professions? Same abilities?

What other features - perhaps from other games - would you like to see in a game that would have the distinction of DAOC 2? For example - PQs?

Yes huge graphical upgrades is really all it needs, imo revert back to old abilities, same faction, same professions, the crafting was as bad as the grinding agreed  with some posters but it also gave you a accomplisment and made your char much needed and some extra gold or plats for your time + tips ))

IMO give the game blood like they did with AoC and put a rating maybe it will make parents think twice about letting their kids play and we would have less whine threads from wow kids coming over and get more of the mature people who understand why they play and enjoy the game.

    Yeah, Warhammer is DAOC2.

If they took EVERYTHING from DAOC, shoved some serious graphical/ UI upgrades, to include animation, spell effects, etc and threw in some more fun with the keeps, I would play DAOC again.

No.. it wasn’t DaoC 2..  it was closer to wow than daoc... you didn’t have to earn your levels by grinding... how about crafting system was it the same? 3 factions? Dungeons not instances? They added the instances later to level which was pretty dumb to do, because it kept people seperate..  the rvr wasn’t even the same...  They tried keep it fun and do something new which failed obviously...

Other than Atlantis is was the most balanced game out there.

Well Atlantis wasn’t the real back breaker to be honest, it hurt alot.. because it ment more grinding but the game was still doing well and they needed something to keep everyone busy and happy so they went and added more PvE it did screw it up because of all the +% bonuses..  SI was brilliant those 3 Dungeons were lots of fun and raids being lead and everyone had to pay attention and listen to the raid leader so the raid wouldn’t fail and wipe out.. But After the Cata Classes.. The game just went downhill. Yes it was the most balanced game out yet thats faction based.

Ho I remember Daoc... Pve, where you had to camp forever the same mob to level. After that, you had to equip yourself and grind for months to be able to compete in pvp. Of course, nobody remember that, everyone think about the pvp... This ridiculous pvp where only the hardcore (the guys who alway play together every single nights) and the zerg could win. Realm imbalance further made this a complete nightmare. I remember a particular legendary albion zerg that litterally made the server crash. You also needed a bot to compete, so a second account 180$/year. After that, they added New frontier, I like to call that a new way to give me the finger. As a skald, I had nothing to do with these siege fight and apparantly, I was not good enough to be part of the elite club so I was alone or stuck with pug.

But after you hit level 50 finally, didn’t you say YAY! I’m 50 finally, and you had a sense of accomplishment? Wasn’t it alot easier to level other chars after your first 50 as well? Because you knew where to level and how to level faster and help others and make friends easier because you had more knowledge? But maybe not, because you seemed to do things alone.. that would have to be a personal character flaw than.. make in game friends imo.. I didn’t play every single night myself, but when I did yes I played with hardcore players but you know what, sometimes we did pug groups and still were able to play well.. I also went to solo by myself on my stealther or my caster or my skald or my mins.. and I have the RR’s on my chars to proove it.. 1 thing about the zerg was it was somewhat avoidable if you are running on at least caster speed, I have to say Mythic did a good job with the Hastener bots at the keep doors because it gave soloers a chance to get  away and live a bit more longer lol.. I remember both Alb and Hib zerg when Hib used to zerg up at AMG in emain and Albs used to be on thier side and it would be 1 big lag cluster.. But if you were there why were you there? You were getting RP’s right? )) As I skald I know where your coming from.. but It was still soloable.. I was able to solo alot of diffrent classes on my char Wickedwoman or get into groups or start groups with people I knew..  Also you make money by working they make money by working.. If people want to spend the money on an extra account so what? Make a friend with a bot or get 1 of your own..

You know what, I am glad DAOC era is over. Thanks for remembering me how nostalgia sucks, how much daoc was too hardcore for me and why it's dying at the moment with a single server left.

Sorry I couldn’t understand that last part of what you said.... all I got was, whine whine whine cry cry cry pout pout pout.

This is why the game kept turning for the worst because people that couldn’t enjoy the game didn’t just quit. Instead they went on forums about being ganked and not getting into groups cried.. it’s not our fault your antisocial.. If you aren’t here to support DAoC 2 than why come at all?

I think for sure a DAoC 2 would have to have some changes to be successful.  In this generation of whiny WoW kids, a lot of things about DAoC that were fine at the time wouldn't seem so great any more.

Namely, the xp grind to 50 was painful.  I remember the last 5 levels with my druid where I stood at the top of a ramp that had creatures at the bottom and began pulling them, one at a time.  They had to run up the ramp to get to me so I had extra time to do damage with my nature dots, which helped me to keep a constant stream of pulls.  When I got home from work I immediately got on and started pulling and did so until bed time and it STILL took me from Monday until like Saturday to get those 5 levels with nonstop pulls.  Oh, god, it was painful.

Read my post to Elronir for the exp portion.

Also, the crowd control was  WAY too powerful.  I have seen some posts from people that liked it, but as someone who played the game for 6 years, I always hated it.  When two groups came together, whoever got off the first mez was the team that likely won.  If two groups of 5 found each other on the frontier, the battle almost always went like this, you see the enemy, the enemy mezzes your group, you are stuck in place while the enemy kills your friends one by one and then kills you.  Next time, hopefully you will get the mez off first.

Secondly about the CC.. All you need to do is learn your char and invest in good RA’s..  CC was a big part of why the game was successful.. Mez, stun, root, and snares all the realms had them and all classes just about had them.. Thats why the groups that were hardcore were hardcore they knew their characters.. That is why it is good to take long grinding it gives that oppertunity to get to know your char.. I didn’t know my first char Sorc fully until mid 40’s I used to solo mez mobs that were coming at us at the pygmy goblins or trees just so I was useful in rvr.. It made me probably 1 of the best CC’ers in the game those who played on Guin, Lance, and Igraine know me by Melbs or Melb know what I’m talking about. ))

Finally, I saved the best for last.  The thing that I absolutely hated the MOST and this is a big one, casters could NOT cast once someone reached melee range.  You got a quickcast, which was a single cast and then you died.  This was a source of endless frustration, since I always play casters in all MMOs.  I could pick up a sword and chop someone in real life, but I could never cast a lightning bolt from my fingers, so casters have always been more interesting.  Anyway, stealthers were unkillable as a caster unless you found them killing someone else out of stealth and once melee reached you, your only choices were to die or die and cuss.

You have your opinion the same with all others who post.. But Don’t you understand that if casters had the ability to cast while in melee combat they would be more overpowered?  I used to go solo on my sorc in emain OF and I was able to kill stealthers that popped me because 1) I knew my char and 2) because I invested in the right RA’s...

They killed me too though... I wasn’t unkillable or anything and much props to those stealthers or others. There was also a little trick I did so that way I had an advantage on my sorc.. before I’d go out I’d make 1 of my procs go off on my armor ablative that is abs on the logherymen. So when they perfed me it would absorb the huge damage and only take about 10% health from me or 20%.. Anyhow qc /face > mez run a ways nuke nuke root run a bit nuke nuke dead stealther.. of course debuffs were in there... str/con and such..  If I got stunned.. than purge.. than that routine.. If purge was down MoC was up.. I also went solo on my cleric before ench/healer spec...  with no qc available to the class..

Lastly, sometimes the frontier was just very slow.  When hordes of players were roaming back and forth capturing keeps and individuals were running around looking for 1v1 it was magic.  When it was slow, you were sitting around chatting with your guild and looking at the map hoping you would see the little crossed swords that indicated battle.  Also, 1v1 was difficult to find in the frontier because most people ran with groups.  The only time you really saw a lot of 1v1 was stealthers ganking you and unless you were a tank class, you had very little chance of winning.

The last part I agree, there were times when it was slow in rvr.. but that was because your speaking about NF... the game was already in a steady decline... So it was mostly lack of players.. 1 of the things that I disliked was the minimap showing battles and porting to keeps... But it was Mythic catering to the need of crybabies who love their I win buttons but hate loosing.. But don't get me wrong, I'll kill them all the same in game. ))

    I'm with you!!! DAoC 2!!!!!

As an ex-DAoC vet that quit DAoC because of  :the melee style change patch, the ToA xpac, and the NF xpac, I would love to see either DAoC 2 or DAoC origins (pre-toa) come out!!!!

I'm sick and tired of this carebear PVE **** that is WoW, Aion, etc.

    I say no to DAoC2, instead revamp DAoC1 :)

    From what I remember.

Change the frontiers - Keep NF castles and such, no bridges leave that for bg's. Delete boat travel and bring back the Gothis (teleporters for mids) bring back the giant teleport pad (memories i swear). Delete agramon. Delete laby, thats what DF is for + its a lot more fun. Battlegrounds was the sh*t, its what introduced me to RvR which in turn made me fall inlove with the addicting game I spent countless memorable hours on, Still miss it.

Update the PVE system for new players - No quest quest quest quest ect ect ect.... Spread them out like they did epic quests and make each quest a lot more fun, longer, and better for the most part. Maybe an instance/quest as if your playing a great  rpg (MASS Effect) with co-op, make it so people actually read or better yet make cut-scenes with dialog so you are drawn into your epic story or some type of story (Thats where BIOware comes in !!) ect... And instead of one big chunck of exp for that long entertaining and fun instance/quest, you give them an item with an xp boost that they can wear or whatever for a couple of days so that they are encouraged to grind with your group of friends, cuz all grind and no play makes me go crazy (although the boring grind brought up some very interesting and or funny convos lololo!), which in turn brings them to their next fun/entertaining epic quest/instance a bit faster and repeat. I guess some small quests in between to upgrade your gear and items... Improve combat maybe? Delete everything after SI, including classes and races. Maybe keep artifacts but make them a bit easyer to get, example; no scrolls!!! And having some classes being useless at some but very good at certain things is brilliant! it encourages and almost forces grouping!!! And having 3 factions 1vs1vs1 is also brilliant for a couple of reasons!! A lot of other stuff on my mind but this is long enough as it is. Sh*t.. this probably wont even be read! but its okay.

All in all, im sure almost all agree, DAoC was a great great game for the most part, I played it for 5-6yrs off and on even after trying other mmo's, but thats the thing, it WAS a great game, was....

Elementzero berserker rr6 7 or 8, Shadowblast suppression (funnest caster i have ever played btw) runemaster rr7 or 8. and Elementxero rr7 or 8 champ + countless low rr alts.
