Looking for a good Sandbox style game

Title says it all.  I played the hell out of runescape back before they ruined the in game economy.  That being said...

UO-Too dated IMO

Mortal Online-Supposedly an unfinished, buggy game.  Not my cup of tea to pay for an unfinished game

Darkfall-Supposedly impossible to keep up with the vets because of a lack of skill cap.  If something's changed, lemme know

Dawntide, Aerrevan-unreleased and unstable as hell.  The dawntide beta screwed up my computer, and the aerrevan beta...well, let's not talk about that

Runescape-as mentioned above.

NEO online-got ruined by hackers and the item mall I heard.

So yeah, if anyone knows of one with decent graphics that'd be cool.  Price doesn't really matter but I'd prefer free.

Vanguard if you are willing to accept that what you see is what you get and that it may or may not be around much longer.

Eve if you don't mind a sci-fi theme, auto combat, and spreadsheets.

edit: forgot about Ryzom. Good sandbox there but very small population.

Other than that not much else. Slim pickings when it comes to sandboxes these days. image

It takes about 3 months of casual play to develop a character that can take out year-old toons as long as you practice dueling enough that you know how the combat works.

If you chose melee specs such as destroyer/indestructible than you really do not need to work for anything other than sharpshooting, 2-hd weapon, and witchesbrew.

Just a month ago a patch came out than lessened the gap even more and the upcoming expansion will lessen the the gap even more (last month HP was given to noobs and not vets which was the most important thing and AOE magic has been nerfed so that you only deal full damage where the spell lands while expansion is bringing quests that raise skills/stats, stat pots, more scrolls/books for noobs, prestige classes so you can be a mage without feeling like you want to level everything) . .. hopefully they keep it how it is now. I think the grind should stay but am looking forward to more ways to customize myself after expansion.
