Anyone read or can tell from beta how this progression is staggered? How many job levels are there? Can you max out more than one job by the time you hit max physical level?
Physical level still continue to get exp whatever job you roll, and it doesn"t "block" you from leveling another job, even if it was maxed out.
Actually it even "helps" getting more stats than you should have at lvl 1 with another new started job, but i guess it will be attuned later to be scaled down to fit the job level or something like this.

I kind of new that much, I guess I wasn't clear on what I was going for.
I guess I'm just wondering if you will be able to have an effective hybrid by the time you are max physical or if it's going to require a lot more time after that(multiple other classes I expect would take quite a while to max out).
Can you be, for example, Physical level 35, and have a level 50 Marauder skillset?
If that is possible, then you can effectively have multiple max level skills classes and not yet be max physical level.
In this placeholder build, this is not the case. At least for the first ten-twenty levels, later I hear it might have changed a bit.
It's actually one of the things I've sent feedback about so far. If you can only raise your physical level once, it should level slower than your skill rank.
Using LOL is like saying "my argument sucks but I still want to disagree".
The latest Mog Log covers exactly that question. In a nutshell, nobody has any idea yet except for S-E themselves, and they're not talking. I don't even know if the class level caps and physical level caps upon release are set in stone right now.
One of the amazing aspects of FFXIV -- to my mind, at least -- is that there are two different systems of leveling, both of which are largely independent. Characters level vertically with their physical level, and horizontally as they level various classes. Will physical levels and class levels advance at roughly the same rate? Will one be more important than the other?
I don't know. I can tell a convincing story in which characters are more or less done with leveling at max physical level; I can tell one in which physical level is almost trivial to reach and class levels are the real bottleneck. And that's just the most basic question about the endgame -- how many different things do you need to level? How long do they take?
Beyond even that, we don't know whether reaching max level is even a prerequisite for taking part in meaningful activities. Through a mix of level caps and gated content, FFXI had players taking part in important long-term stuff early in the game, and I'm hoping that continues. What important content will be released early on? What different things can characters do?
1. Having max physical level wont make you hit like you are capped if you pick up a new level one job, although you will obviously be "stronger" than a brand new player.
2. HP and MP will most likely (as they were in beta 2) be still reduced if you changed to a low level job.
3. S-E likes random jumps in the exp curve to mess with you.
4. Crafting and Harvesting currently grant physical level experience, so speeds may vary.

Whatever we say here will be changed.
I can give you the most recent answer as soon as the version update notes for the newest patch come up. Even then it's likely to change.
I am more interested in knowing if you can get max skills on one class without first getting max physical level.

There are plenty of REALLY safe bets.
