Hello I scored around 2000 in that benchmark test. I would like to boost my score up around 1000, whats the most efficient way to upgrade my pc? I would like to spend less than $300, thanks in advance, heres my spec:
Dell xps 630i
Intel Core 2 Quad Q9300 2.5 Ghz
Radeon HD 5750 1G
4x 2048M DDR2 PC6400

CPU needs upgrade i think.
I would wait to upgrade until after release since benchmark is not acurrated 100%, more like if you can run benchmark you can run ffxiv,
Only thing you will need to upgrade is your gpu and for $300 you can get a damn good one either on the nvidia side or ati side. Your cpu is great, gpu is good to, not sure how fast your ram is (guessing 800mhz) but that is good to, and the mobo is a bit outdated compared to what is out today but it is still a good board. If Dell hasn't locked the BIOS I would overclock that cpu to about 3.0-3.2 ghz. My other rig which my mom has it has a Q6600 on a 780i board I have it OC to 3.0 and I get good peformance on it.
Seriously, if you're on a limited budget, wait for the game to come out first.
By this point, it's pretty widely acknowleged that the benchmark is somewhere between inaccurate and unrealistic, and a system like yours will certainly run it, if only at a reduced detail level. Once you have the game running, it becomes possible to see how stressed your various components actually are, and you can spend your upgrade money much more wisely. As an added bonus, hardware tends to become cheaper over time, making that upgrade money stretch a little further.

I wouldn't upgrade at a whim just because an unrealistic benchmark is giving you whacky results. I think you should run just fine.
Well, it's a complicated process if you want to upgrade your CPU (which is probably what is bottlenecking you).
If you upgrade your CPU you also need to look at:
Make sure your Mobo is compatable, your CPU socket right now is LGA 775 and an i7 would be LGA 1366, so you'd need a new motherboard ($200+ for a reliable 1366)
i7 CPU (i7 930+ $250).
Make sure your ram speed and channel is compatible with your motherboard. (if not, you're looking at another $100 for 4gb triple channel memory).
Make sure your PSU has a modular cable for your motherboard processor power.
/facepalm
