You know what sucks...it sucks to find out what your calling in life is and you're half-way through it when you do figure it out!  ::sniffles::   After years of wondering and looking for the one thing I could do with my life that would make me the happiest person on Earth, I realize that it took half-my life to figure it out!  ::sigh::  Writing is a passion for me, but there is one thing I have always wished to do, and I saw it about a month ago, and I have been doing a ton of research to see what it'll take to make my dream job come true and....

...I think it would be easier to climb Everest nekkid, backwards, with a blindfold on, while carrying two cups of tea on a platter in one hand and in the other twirling a plate on the end of a long stick..

I will not let this stop me though.    I will do this.     I will succeed.   I do not care what it takes or how much it may cost....I will make this happen.

OMG it would make me so...I think I would esplode from shear joygasm if I make this happen.    ^_^

...and no...it has absolutely nothing to do with MMORPG's.  It is so freaking much more awesome!

    Tease....

No required quests! And if I decide I want to be an assassin-cartographer-dancer-pastry chef who lives only to stalk and kill interior decorators, then that's who I want to be, even if it takes me four years to max all the skills and everyone else thinks I'm freaking nuts. -Madimorga-

After reading this OP, I think you should stick to smutty romance novels. Call the first "joygasm".

What sucks is not having years of experience with any of it until now, I've thrown away everything I've done when I started, and the early stuff I have kept on the backburner needs complete revision to meet my current standards. It takes time to get good at it, and if you really just got into it, expect 5-6 years of messing around until you end up with something that others will agree is any good. Any cook likes thier own food, same with writers, but down the line you'll realise how much you suck at it and learn from it.

What the hell is happening in this thread?

That was a really long winded way to say absolutely nothing.

Yeah huh, I just realised she basically said nothing about this new infatuation, so I am just going to pretend it's pole dancing and call it a day.

Good for you Teala. I still haven't figured it out for myself.

Unless it's pro sports, low level computer programming, or stripping, you're not too old to start.  And if you really want to be a stripper, well, there's always the possibility that cosmetic surgery will uplift your assets and make it possible!

Now we know you're new here and not an alternate account. Or you're misleading us.  Where'd I put that bubble wrap aluminum foil?

    Not even.

When my buddy turned 18 we took him to a strip club and then all of us got lap dances. I got a hot blonde with a perfectly proportioned body (slightly thick, how I like it) who was maybe 2-3 years older than me, he got one that was in her 40's and she rocked his world. When it was her turn to rock the pole, she absolutely destroyed it. Age = experience.

Totally made me jealous over making the wrong choice in dancers.

Well you gonna bloody share or not?

    O_o o_O

  • TealaTeala Member RarePosts: 7,627

::sigh:: I so desperately wish to share, but I really can't, not now at least.   LOL!  It's a long story and I sorta have to keep it to myself and a few close friends for now.   However!  Do not let thine hearts be sadden by such news...lol....in time I will share the details of my joy to you all here.   It's nothing seriously weird...honest - in fact you'd probably think it weird that I wish to do it because its not really anything that hasn't been done before - its just that I'll be doing it a little differently than most, in the coolest way ever!  Really I cannot say what it is yet.   But OMG - I have never been so enthusiastic about anything in my life and I am literally bursting with  so much energy to do this that I just might "esplode" from shear happiness if it comes to be.

As for the stripping...been there, done that...I am to old and tired of that scene.   Time to move on to something less stressful and doesn't involve lots of people!  My dream job in fact really only requires me, one other person, and Mr. Benjiman to be involved in the job I'll perform(well sorta kinda - I mean there are others involved in the company of course - but they have their jobs and I'll have mine and mine is the cooler one!)  Who knows, maybe once I share the job I wish to do with some of you here, you'll go...hell yeah...I wanna do that too!  LMAO!

Just know this....we look for something to give our lives meaning and try to find something at the same time that allows us to earn a decent living and be happy doing it(sorta like the guy from the movie Office Space).   I am not a paper-pushing person and yet that is the kind of work I do, day in and day out, now that I am no longer dancing.   Well I am not going to go back to dancing and I hate sitting at a desk!  It is driving me crazy!  I am not a desk person at all!

A month ago, as I said, I saw the most incredible thing I have ever seen and when I saw it...it was magic, and I knew in an instant that I was pursuing the wrong thing and that what I really wished to do was to be involved in this - thing...this thing I saw, and ever since then I have been working my arse off to figure out how to make it a reality.   Like I said, it is a very daunting task I have set for myself...and I see it as my Everest...but you know what...people climb Everest all the time - sure some fail - but some actually make it - I can make it, I mean, nothing actually feasible is impossible...people have been to the frikking moon!  What I wish to do really isn't anything that dramatic...but the job I wish to perform is...well...unique.  That is all I can say for now.

That's cool, i don't ever think i know what i want to do, but am happy to see you have discovered what you truly wish to accomplish.

And im now 32, and i have just quit my dayjob and will begin a four year long eduacation for my "gossip", in a weeks time : )

So there is never too late. Maybe only to early! You can do "it"!

I got this in a fortune cookie last year, and have kept it in my wallet ever since (given that it applies to so much in life)... hopefully you take it to heart as well:

Do not give up; the beginning is always the hardest.

    Good luck!  :)

I'm almost 40, and haven't figured out what my "calling" is. Can I share yours until I find it?

Maybe that's why we're so crotchety.

Nah. We just like being so.

    Hey!

I'm kind and sweet and treat everyone with kid gloves so as not to hurt their feelings in any way. I cast butterflies and rainbows at everyone I interact with because that's just the kind of guy I am.

Don't try to lump me in with you and your crotchety-ness, you grumpy old man you!

I actually received 3 warnings in the past 4 months or so. Two were for being off-topic but they were overturned. The third one was valid and I didn't challenge it.
