Looking for Grind Free Mmo

massicksmassicks Member Posts: 46

Recent lifestyle changes mean I can't spend the time I used to grinding games such as WoW. I still love the MMORPG genre of games however I am now looking to play something that does not require the same level of grind dedication to progress.

I have tried Darkfall and EVE but wasn't keen on either.

Is there anything else out there worth considering?

Anything can feel like grind if it's boring. Sounds like you want something that's fun.

You can't play WoW anymore, you say? What other games have you tried?

Though, I'm going to have to discourage you from trying Warhammer Online right now. Just my 2 cents.

Totally agree with what you are saying.

So what have I played that didn't feel like grind? The answer would have to be SWG where missions (quests) were for financial gain but character development was skill/experience based rather than quest grinding.

In short I guess I am looking for an experience based MMORPG not quest based.

I would suggest checking out the Games List here on MMORPG.com, you can sort the list out in multiple aspects. Just look for something that looks fun and interesting and check it out. Time consuming, yes, but you're likely to find SOMETHING.

Otherwise just wait for others to get in here to make specific suggestions.

MMORPG can never be grind free. Notice Anet said the same thing about GW1

Agreed, there's no such thing as a grind-free MMO.  Any game where you have to gain XP, gear, gold and the like to advance is, by definition, a grindy game.  You may not notice the grind, you may enjoy the grind, but it's still a grind.  There's no way to get rid of that and still have an MMO.

Played: UO, EQ, WoW, DDO, SWG, AO, CoH, EvE, TR, AoC, GW, GA, Aion, Allods, lots more
Relatively Recently (Re)Played: HL2 (all), Halo (PC, all), Batman:AA; AC, ME, BS, DA, FO3, DS, Doom (all), LFD1&2, KOTOR, Portal 1&2, Blink, Elder Scrolls (all), lots more
    Now Playing: None
    Hope: None

Good points. As long as the game based on those key factors will be grindy. They just makes you feel differently. My suggestion, play a browser based strategy game + movies + LOL. You will never bored with those.

you didn't mention whether you wanted PvP or not...if you just want PvP I would recommend Fantasy Earth Zero....

    Yes the graphics are awful

Yes there are only three classes.... BUT....

you fight in wars vs players to level/can get gear/ etc... and a level 15-16(level after tutorial) can kill a level 40 (max level)

Basically you do a tutorial that takes about an hour or hour and 30 mins to complete and you'll have gear/level 15 or 16, I would check out youtube videos first though to make sure.

But its kept me entertained for awhile and is pretty balanced as well.

I don't want to post a wall of information but its free and all you have to lose is some time by investigating through youtube/ websites.

You need a time machine to go back to UO days, pick me up along the way.

Face of Mankind is the only "grind free" game I've seen, but you still have to do repeatable tasks to make money - or be a savvy merchant. That game will send most people screaming back to games with grind though, if only to "have more things to do". I can promise you that grind is something that keeps you playing, and if you got what you wished for, you'd see the error in the mode of thinking you've held up.

I'm in a somewhat similar state as you as I know my time is limited so the massive game sessions are on a halt.  With that said, I have been playing League of Legends and Starcraft 2 to pass the small time I have.  Not mmo's, but fun and somewhat similar nonetheless.

Second Life is grind free. And the game is free to play.

Sounds like GW2 is aiming for that.

If you want "no grind," I can't suggest anything outside of Playstation Home.  If you want a game where the leveling pace is quick and there's little difficulty in catching up with the veterans, I recommend a game like Everquest 2 (played last year) or Guild Wars (haven't played in years).

     Check out http://sun.ijji.com/ maybe.

It has the fastest and easiest level progression i've ever came acrossed, just recently got my new char to lv80 (out of 130) in 5 days and that is slow when compared to a more involved community member with a guild and such, but the biggest plus to me is there is no grinding mobs for exp, ever.

Face of Mankind is one - It only has faction ranks which don't affect combat / gameplay.

Warhammer Online Endless Trial is another - You reach maxlevel/endgame in like 7-8 hours of playing.

And there are probably more i guess.

But you should had posted this on the LFGame forum, not here.

"Traditionally, massively multiplier online games have been about three basic gameplay pillars – combat, exploration and character progression. In Alganon, in addition to these we've added the fourth pillar to the equation: Copy & Paste."

If your looking for a grinding online game, better try AIKA Global which will be launch on Aug 20 2010

Like others are saying your criteria is a wild goose chase i suggest you try private servers with faster exp rates etc.

There is no grind. Unless you count the afk grind. Choose the fencer or tactician class if you don't feel like power leveling your character for hours, the game is nicely balanced even with the soldier afk lvling system. It works well and nobody complains.

If you're looking for a game that's more intent on interesting gameplay than level progression (and, by extension, grind), may I suggest Dungeons & Dragons Online?

It's fun, especially in small (under 2 hours) doses.

  • kulangotcohkulangotcoh Member Posts: 13

Yah, dungeons and dragons are cool also, more grinding =)) aika also a grinding game.
