I am playing mainly AoC while I wait for SWTOR and GW2, my friends are in AoC and even if I don't really like that game, I am sticking to it to play with them...
I am looking for 4 games at the moment that I would like to invest my self as a second MMO... Personally, I am more a PVE that likes PVP on a "RvR" basist. But no PVP can be fine. I am a heavy role player so this is the most important point.
The 4 games:
Lotro: Worries - the new F2P options, I will not used the shop, but I am scared that some buffs / gears could be available in the store and make my toon useless.
City of Heroes/Villains - Worries - the game is old, I don't mind the graphics, but I remember how the quests was so repetitive back then, did they work something out?
Champions Online - Worries - Cryptic, enough said!
SWG - Worries - SoE and the combat system... Plus the quests was repetitive too...
Thanks for your help!

Hell I'm looking for a 1st mmo much less a second. I just started playing Fable 2 again. I forgot how funny that game can be. Sounds like a lot of others around here that are bored are playing old RPGs and Strategy games until the next batch of mmos come out.
The only game on that list that is remotely appealing to me is LOTRO and I found that game too slow and hard to get into. I've done the quest-grind games to death.
F2Ps are *meant* to be that 2nd MMO. You gonna pay for two while obviously devoting more time to one than the other?
This is why they are there ffs.
Try any of these;
Wurm Online's infinite trial server "golden valley". it's 5e a month to play on the real servers, which lack the d-bags of the trial server, but it's free, and tons of people have been there upwards of a year without ever moving on. Takes more dedication though, because of increased decay.
Fantasy Earth Zero. It looks old, for sure, but plays like an action game. The RvR is some of the best I've seen, and it plays out like an RTS with building structures duing battle to encroach territory and summon things. Confusing at times, but once you figure out how to get into it, it should do you well enough for a little bit.
Atlantica Online. You have to be a turn-based action fan to enjoy it, but there are so many things going on in that game which impress me. The one game where people would have to be stupid to not group up, regardless of distance, because of all the benefits. Very good F2P when it comes to the social angle, and guilds get namesake towns like Tokyo and London where they can build the aesthetics within it and convince wandering NPCs to migrate there. Pretty cool.
Dungeon Fighter Online. You have to be in the US or Canada to play Nexon's version, but it's totally worth trying, in my opinion. Takes me back to my days with Final Fight and Streets of Rage, except the classes are really well developed and play completely different. Even the advanced classes they break down into at lvl 18 are far different than the each other. Very fun game, and probably the *only* F2P I've ever hit max level in. Hell, I still play it after burning through it all about a month ago.
I think that's about it. I'd recommend Aika or SMT as well, but I've hit the wall in both of them and feel reluctant to play anymore.
