No replies from FC-Famine? I guess you're admitting your previous statement was plain rubbish. Make a topic here in few months when you've actually discussed what to do with PvP (for the first time in AoC history!!). It will be a grand day, not seen yet in this game.
As a matter of a fact, you're TROLLING here, you have ZERO PROOF, that your company has actually spent any time what-so-ever on PvP content. Maybe Famine should get some penalties for his comments, huh?
You should also know (first time I've said this in 2 years of critique), my guild/gaming community will NEVER buy another game made by FunCom, doesn't even matter which part of your company is developing it. So yeah, I actually was passive towards my clanmates before about TSW, but the fact how badly you treat PvP in AoC is enough to make me force such ill-will upon others. Hmm, you just lost around 250 first-month buyers there. Perhaps Craig Morrison should be fired like the art team just was, to make your company at least a bit more creditable.
Yes, that german server was the same as fury and we all know that. If you would search the forums as you claim you know how, you would find out that same problem often happens on this german server. But I was talking about big international servers, that one I honestly forgot about - Crom, Tyranny, Cimmeria, Set, Wiccana ...
Now its international servers? Weren't it "all servers but Fury" like you claimed before? Or is the story changing now? I think your arguments are flawed and no where near refined as those from our dear game director who immediately backs off the topic when being presented by facts and data.
Ok, lets continue.
2 Russian/Polish servers - Rohat and Two Eagles. Sieges crashed since patch 1.5, nothing improved later. Servers are dead now, no sieges cause of extreme lack of population
Spanish Community - no servers anymore, everyone is off to aquilonia and Crom
also try to look at the number of players which is nicely documentated, keep this in mind for later.
2 German servers. Mitra (PVE) I presented before, Asgaard (PVP-RP) - no info on forums, but I know from experience that crash ratio is similar to other servers
English EU servers - Hyrkania (RP-PVE) - no sieges. Crom (PVE) - siege ocasionally crashes as presnted before. Aquilonia (PVP-RP) - very rare sieges nowadays, crashes not specified. Fury (PVP) - known situation
Tyranny (PVP) - dead servers, no sieges. Before it was max 1 raid vs 1 raid
Cimmeria (PVP-RP) - little bit less population than Fury. Much rarer sieges than on Fury, don't know exact numbers nor status of crashes (average sieges per week would help here and if alteast one crashed recently)
Ok, now lemme just add that on all of those servers, 48 vs 48 sieges aren't really happening anymore due to lack of population. Fury had them until few days ago, we'll see what will happen now that Nastrandir as guild left. Related to that, no siege was in full force from both sides.
When you look it in this light - you can see where the problem is. Sieges aren't happening at all. If they are, they are very very rare (as in one in few weeks), and no where near full force. So yeah, sieges don't crash... simply because they are not happening anymore.
But when you have frequent sieges, no matter the server - you'll eventually get a crash. That means that sieges aren't working, and the content is broken. It has been like that now for 1 year and 3 months, ever since funcom released patch 1.5.
I just said my claims are for internetional servers.I don't know about others because i Dont follow them. As for your proofs - how is claim "forums are not reporting sieges" the same as "sieges are not happening on x server". But I agree. Sieges are not happening. Something I told Craig when he promised siege fixes. Even if sieges are fixed (which is my claim at least for majority of servers ... links you provided don't work) people won't play them

His links work perfectly fine. Maybe you have some technical issues?
@tranca: this does happen (hacks corrupting game files) and has happened in many MMO's. search with google. As for rezz points. no, this is funcom shit doing. As are shitty sieges altogether.
Dr Carl Sagan once said that extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence. You are making some extraordinary claims here. By stating that cheating players have somehow managed to corrupt Funcom's database(s) and/or source. And as such are responsible for siege crashes. You will have to provide far better evidence than saying "go google it."

Don't hold your breath Rawiz. Famine knows he cannot convince people here to believe anything Funcom says. Certainly not least of all because of their past record of lying (yes LYING) in their customers' face. You also have to remember that Famine is one of the main culprits responsible for the censoring and gagging of people who told the truth on Funcom's forums.
I also doubt that Famine would want to become embroiled in an argument he simply cannot win. Even with the protection that he is being afforded here on these forums. Look, we are dealing with a company of questionable morals. A company who's game director slandered his own customers. A company who will ruthlessly silence their critics via infractions, bans, and even up to the point of permanently banning people from their forums.
Famine will therefore only make fleeting appearances. Throwing in some innane one liner before tucking tail and running. Remember how he insulted this entire community by describing it as "small." Insinuating that we were of no real significance.

Seeing how FC works, I can just see how NDA is lifted after release of their new cash-grab Secret World. I made an edit confirming that none of my gaming community will be there buying that game, but you can be sure I'll be there reminding people how FC acts. SoE no longer is even an issue. The current issue is companys like FunCom and Cryptic.
Little tip here FC, even World of Warcraft: Cataclysm has already lifted their NDA. They also have less bugs in their beta than your retail AoC currently. That's a game that has like 150 times more subs than you (claim to) have currently. Perhaps if you weren't so crap at making games, you'd be able to do that too!
I will give TSW a try as i like Vampire Bloodlines and i hope it will have similarities and i play fantasy mmos for ten years its really time for a fresh breeze of air.
AoC i will only play any longer if they change the Reanimation Necro into a true summoning class. It would be ok to me to do not a single point of damage as long i have a versatile gameplay and summoned minions that are usefull in singleplayer and groupsituations, that must not be pure dps, i am not a dps whore - well, i am alone that way i guess, so in october its over for me, but i may dream a bit^^
Stil AoC was that good its beside DAOC and SWG the game that catched me a long time.
Sadly its a very ambivalent game with as well advanced gamplay elements as substandard gameplay. AoC is Graphic and Combat, anything else is below even standards of some of the oldest games in the genre and that is part of the reason, why it is where it is.

Talking about the PvP community? Come on, the PvP community IS small compared to the PvE community.
Or better said the people that prefer PvE above PvP. It has been researched again and again throughout the MMO population in all kinds of MMO's: PvP oriented people are in the minority compared to PvE oriented people, just like sandbox loving MMO gamers are in the minority compared with the group of themepark/'structured' MMO gamers, and hardcore gamers the minority compared with casual gamers.

No judgement statement, it just is how it is.
In most games you are correct that PvP community is a minority, however that all depends on the game. Games that are promoted as PvP games will always draw a large amount of PvP players, AoC was aimed to be a game focusing on PvP, sieges, world PvP minigames. Heck at some point they even said it would be possible to form formations etc whilst sieging. You are however wrong when you say that PvP population is in minority throughout the population in all kinds of MMO's. DFO is a game that attracts mostly PvP players, most PvE players avoid it as they know they are forced to PvP at some point. MO similar story, WAR also drew a large PvP playerbase. For most games that focuses on PvE it is true however, AoC today is more focused on PvE then PvP
AoC had a large PvP playerbase at launch, today that same PvP playerbase is a minority due to Funcom failing at making sieges work, Bori their latest failure would most likely have worked if the pvp playerbase was big. As that would mean more guilds to fight over the resources. Fewer guilds allowed Bori to be nothing more then a hand holding experience to get to pvp level 10 asap.
The thing with PvP players is that they are a thougher bunch to make happy, PvE players are happy with an instance they can do over and over provided the instance offer decent rewards and are fun to do. PvP players often do not care that much about fighting mobs controlled by a computer. They want meaningful PvP content, and that's the though bit to create. DFO have done this to certain extent, you have sieges for cities, you have full loot and fight over resource nodes. The full loot in DFO offers a proper risk for players when they go out to do PvP, but the reward can be greater then the risk. The cities can provide excellent base of operations for guilds when they want PvP or simply looking for resources.
Famine will therefore only make fleeting appearances. Throwing in some innane one liner before tucking tail and running. Remember how he insulted this entire community by describing it as "small." Insinuating that we were of no real significance.

I think you misread what he posted Cyphers. He was referring specifically to "this" community, when we were discussing AoC's many issues. I took it to read, "look you lot are so small a number, I really don't give a fuck what you say."
Swollenwabit pretty much nailed the whole pvp concept right on the head. We are tougher to please, we do not like beating on some ridiculous npc to get some pixel items to mince around in. We want to have at it and test our skills againt others like us. There is NO challenge or interest for us in fighting a stupid and completely predictable computer controlled mob.
Actually, the pvp crowd is relatively easy to please. Just think about it, all it takes is some additional mini games, even one would do. There are 4 minigames and pvp players are still satisfied with them and would wholeheartedly welcome new ones. How can it be hard to make a new minigame? What were they thinking by NOT implementing a single new minigame based on Khitai setting when making the expansion? Is it really harder to make a minigame map than a 6 man dungeon like Iron Tower?
No, I am not convinced that pve crowd is easy to please, not even in AoC. It takes a lot of resources and time to make full-blown pve zones with a rich storyline, voiced quests and epic linear experience. And 6 mans and raids? That's even harder to make (and constant tweaking and fixes by FC prove that). To fully please the pve crowd, AoC would need "fun grind" for factions, which means like 20 more factions all with varied experience and epic questing, new raids every 3 months (and I mean fairly easy raids that would be fun and not frustrating like endbosses of tier 3 and overpowered ninja waves in tier 4) and new 6 mans every month or so. PvE is almost always reduced to a linear experience and almost always met with utter boredom before anything new is added, same shit in WoW.
Just imagine how many more quests and how much more time would FC need to waste by making all those factions fun and varied? Instead of doing 3 quests for 3 months, just imagine the sheer enormity of having hundreds of unique quests just for one faction?
PvE is what AoC saved somewhat - without PvE it would have about 5000 hardcore pvp-players left if its that much.

but the moment 1.05 appeared, it was set in stone that AOC as a pvp game died that day, thus unleashing the following:

- then along came bori, infinite wisdom of placing it in one area instead of multiple places, further infinite wisdom to not have it regulated further, letting bigger guilds have free reign at any time. smaller guilds that want to compete end up being gobbled up.
- the biggest one is the expansion, great reviews aside, it was for the pve'ers and it was made for the pve'ers in mind, period, balancing was a complete after thought, now funcom is scrambling to deal with the ranger balance after so many were displeased with it.
- Pvp players on Tyranny are packing up and moving out, either to Cimmeria or out of the game entirely, Cimmeria is next to go to shrivel up and die. already having hearsay about guild wars 2 more than ever.
- 2 years in counting, no form of balance or options for mini games, either have a premade or dont play mini games at all. pvpers are now at the point of complaining because people rather sit in the rez pad or leave matches when facing a premade. its not the players fault on either side, they are simply doing what is natural to them.

AoC is not WoW, it was to be based on FFA open world PvP . And making more minigames won't make the rest of the PvP better. As a PvP player I would love to see some proper goals in world PvP rather then a Minigame to play.
That's the one thing I loved about DFO, the world PvP there was not just for fun. By PvP'ing you could get your hands on equipment, resources and just in general lots of good fun. Sieges in DFO wasn't just about crushing another guilds city, but about winning that city to be able to either build your own city or be able to benefit from the resources nearby or in the city. AoC minigames are not bad for fun, but as a PvP player it is far from enough to make me happy. I would love sieges to have been working properly without lag and crashes, that would have been good fun. I would love to have seen other world PvP objectives that could have utilized resources and guilds fightiong over them without meaning it was mining a rock or chopping a tree. However AoC is not a game this will happen in, the world is to small to properly offer this type of gameplay.
