As Final fantasy XIV is a heavy Pve-oriented game it wont exist as anything more then a possible sideproject in the future, for better or worse. Dont expect any pvp on a short time notice if you ask me.

To be honest, its a good thing, to create a good pvp balance between all possible class combinations are a very difficult task, if not impossible. And that isnt, if im correct something Square Enix want to focus on.

FFXI, first and foremost, is about players cooperating with each other, not competing/fighting with each other. Ballista and Brenner were, as Tanaka explains, more sports-like activities. Something you could elect to do if you wanted to, but by no means did it have any impact on the gameplay itself. FFXIV will be developed with the same approach.

Well i really jus lost my interest for this game.. I was decideing weather to pre-order myself the Special Edition version, did lots of research and the game seems really cool (besides clunky UI i keep hearing about) and looks beautiful.. I did so much research when finnaly it hit me, whats the pvp all about? Now that i've done my research on that i can't find anything about it on the FFXIV website or any other websites for that matter.. Now i've glimpsed thru a few threads on this forum and i'am convinced it's not gonna be included what-so-ever..

 

Which isn't a bad thing.. I like PvPing, but questing can be really enjoyable too if the quest writing is done right and the lore of the game is good enough... But TBH that's why i got Fallen Earth lol.. It's such a awsome PvE game but lacking PvP.. I was hopeing FFXIV would be able to feel my hunger for that.. For some reason when i looked over the website when i first got interested in this game months back and saw it was 2 factions i thought it'd be a pretty pvp-heavy game lol.. I never played the last Fianl Fantasy MMO, so i had no clue that it wasn't included in that one and wouldn't be in this one..

 

Guess ill check reviews.. but so much for buying the special edition version.

Nope, it's strictly a PVE game and PVP with only be an afterthought. I think this is for the best though, after seeing the mess Blizzard has been in balancing WoW the past 6 years.
