Er... Well, while I respect your excitement to get your game on I must say that I'd rather eat my own foot.

    Never liked EQ... Bleh.

I'll be there, but I must say I sure wish they had a PvP server.  Because they don't, I don't think it will hold my attention for long.

I have played eq1 and 2 they never really stuck with me. Lately I'm feeling burnt and bit bored with games but I will probably give it a go since it will be free.

I used to play the EQ2 PvP server. IT was actually pretty fun. Pointless, since there was nothing to take over or hold,  but kinda fun.

well in the pvp server now you have events they hold daily you have to defend commonlands if your evil/attack antonica if your good oyu have to defend antonica/attack commonlands its pretty cool you have to destroy towers once oyu get all 4or5 towers you win the match

they have battlegrounds of up to 40 players fighting at once thats just as good at pvp plus all the pvp right now is just a hol bunch of twinked lvl 20s killing guys with bad armor in 1 hit so its kinda pointless untill you get to the high lvls

Until you get to the high levels? Trust me, it's an issue then as well.

I have a max level swashbuckler and I can win a 4v1 with ease, yes I am geared out, however I also attribute a large portion of my success to how well I play the class and my long-term experience with it.

To the point though: twinking exists at all level ranges in EQ2, not just the early ones.

Regarding the OP: Yes, I will definitely be playing.

I would actually be really excited about this, but with the news of Everquest NEXT popping up when this happens makes me think it would be a waste to play this and have NEXT come out.

As far as the item shop goes I could really care less, it's not like this is a PVP game. OOooohh noooOo the items he just bought makes him better at suppport roles in PVE!!! Simply Gamebreaking...

Thats years away mate - they only have a couple of ideas and concept art. EQ2 took 5 years to make, so presuming they have worked on it for the last year or two, you still have at least three years of EQ2X to play :)

I'll probably play until the games in my sig are out. : D

    Total MMOs played: 274|Enjoyed: 9. >:|

The game had lots of content, lore, and extra fluff that was just awesome.

However, the combat was just so DULL and boring. I would fall asleep trying to kill elites. Maybe I played the wrong class. I played a Berserker and it would just put me to sleep.

Also the amount of SK's in the game is painful. Doing your house is pretty cool though. I've thought about coming back. Maybe I just picked the wrong class, but when I played the Berserker I couldn't help but want to play my Glad in Aion, DK/War in WoW, or Brute in CoX

Black prophecy does look pretty sweet.

Judging by your avi sig, you are very wise indeed. I will listen to you...

I didn't play it cause it was shit, not cause I couldn't afford it.

  • UsualSuspectUsualSuspect Member UncommonPosts: 1,243

I REALLY didn't like EQ2, so even with it being free to play I'm not going to touch it. The problem with it, and I've mentioned this before, is that it felt too 'soft'. Combat didn't feel dangerous and the impacts of hitting/being hit were missing, the graphics were lifeless and ugly and.. no, I just didn't like it. The whole class system felt dull too, no class really stood out, they were all so boring to play.

I don't think the problem with EQ2 was that people had to pay to play.

i disagree  with you the graphics are still better then any other mmo maybe the enviromental graphics are a little bad but the spell effects and charcter models are gorgeous

I thought it was just the beta that starts next week.

Dont know why they call it beta when you can spend money and nothing will be wiped. Sounds more like a soft launch.

    If WoW = The Beatles
    and WAR = Led Zeppelin
    Then LotrO = Pink Floyd

If they had used the Turbine model I would have tried it, but this morass they are calling f2p is just a huge joke on the playing public.  I feel sorry for anyone that actually pays for anything, talk about suckers.....

  • Mellow44Mellow44 Member Posts: 599

I have already answered a thread about this in the EQ2 forum.

No need to make multiple threads about the same thing all over the place.

But to answer you question yes I will play it and no I will probably not spend any money on it.

All those memories will be lost in time, like tears in the rain.

That's actually what I found the most ugly, the character models. I thought they were awful - the proportions seemed out, the hair styles and colours were terrible and.. yeah, it was just ugly. The nicest looking game for me so far has been Lord of the Rings Online, I thought that was really nicely done.

SOE are giving more to the free player than Turbine are. You don't even get quests in LOTRO F2P after level 20, yet you get them all the way up to 80 on EQ2X.

  • andyman1112andyman1112 Member UncommonPosts: 32

yea eq2x is a lot more free then lotro if you look at both charts and compare you have to pay to unlock a lot of jjunk espically quest unless you want to grind it out till lvl 50 or 65 if you have the expansion

A lot of game in EQ2 so I think it would be fun to go f2p character and enjoy the levelling game with others. For me, though, I have to metally, physically, and emotionally prep for FF XIV launch so I am passing on anything intensive in gaming right now.
