Its ok in 6 months when everyone realizes that the game is boring and wasting their money that could be spent on buying new games altogether with more enjoyment,  WoW will turn into a abandoned village like all the other MMORPG's.

FPS games are 200X more enjoyable,  200X cheaper,  and with 200X more replayability.  MMORPG's dont have the talent in the field to come out with a good product worth a monthly fee as high as  your cabletv and internet connection.

So why are you a member of this forum if you think MMORPGs are a dead genre?

    Very weird.

i'm not talking trash here about EQ2, more stating this as a fact, but i honestly see alot of people leaving EQ2 in the longrun.  That linear quest design has got to get old after awhile, not to mention that lack of class differences which will be more evident once people reach their 20's.  It just really has no value, no replay value or alt value.  It did the noobie levels great imo, but from 20+ it becomes a hardcore grind along with forced grouping to really play the game the way it was meant to be played with quests.

I'm not saying WOW is the saviour either, but i do think it will hold players in the longrun much better than EQ2 will.  EQ2 is alot like CoH imo, where its great short-term but quickly becomes very redundant due to the lack of variety and things to do.

I previously gave SWG the reward in the category of overhyped and underproduced mmo.The ironic part is now SWG is not a bad game at all and is better than either one of the 2 games.

actually i'd say thats just your opinion, considering the masses disagree with you, especially about SWG :p

WOW did alot of things right, in fact they cut out alot of the pure grind and turned it into less of a grind by using more short-term reward incentive, and mini-games to prevent redundant boredom that occurs in almost every other mmorpg.  It also streamlined tradeskills into the repertoire of someone who also adventures, similar to that being an option in UO, i guess the best way to describe it is 'casual tradeskilling'.  I think the beauty of it is while you adventure theres more incentive to explore other than monsters, and tthat incentive being tradeskill components or skill raises in those tradeskils.  Too many like EQ2 or even something like Horizons forced people into either hardcore tradeskiller or adventurer for the most part, and they had to choose one or the other.  I never really enjoyed tradeskills until WOW.

WOW isnt perfect, and other mmorpg's have some qualities that make them more appealing than WOW, but for the most part, WOW will probably cater to a more mainstream gamer audience than any of the others cuz its done the most things right.

No. WoW is still a grind. That's all you do in fact. So far this PvP system really does show Blizzard has a sense of humor.

What they did was decieve people into forgetting about the grind.

I'll admit it. I actually have fun in WoW at times. But it's still a grind. And the PvP is a joke. It's about as casual and carebearish as it gets.

I've talked to many people. And the majority, if not all of PvP'ers joined WoW to pass time until Darkfall, Mourning, or D&L comes out.

And if your talking about mini-games like fishing...

Well...If you consider that fun. You may not have done it for more then 5 minutes.

    I started getting cross-eyed.

I so much wanted to play mourning.  The idea of open PvP made me think of old times in UO when I could kill anyone anywhere and people knew who you were.  They would say "Oh crap!  Here comes Dread Lord Dekron!"  I loved having the bounty on my head that amassed up to almost 100,000 gold.  But when I read further into their PvP system, it just scared me away.  The fact that you get negative fame points didn't bother me, but the fact that if you get a very low negative fame, your account gets a temp ban.  And if you are constantly at that low of a score (mostly from griefing), your account gets perma banned.

    Ouch!  Very ouch!

To Date I believe WOW to be the Best all around.Does it get everything right no but its not far off.The Crafting system is too bad to level up and as far as leveling you actually have a reason to quest its darn good exp.I hated EQ from way back in Closed beta.Dont like EQ2 at ALL.Reason no pvp in eq2 is they would have to attempt to balance the classes.

IMO mmorpg pvp best SB next WOW   allthough I miss the old UO days. This is as close to UO as any game ive played in a long time its really a mix.Crafting like UO,PVP like DAOC.Instance dungeons like COH.and decent graphics not super but not bad designed to run on on alot more pc`s.

Lag is being fixed and nowhere near as bad as first 3 days.and even then its not choppy lag its loot lag.No rubberbanding and such atleast not for me.

Overall This is the most enjoyable game Ive played in years..the Twitch guys will maybe not like it but hey they have their gendres anyway let us mmorpg have ours.
