as the title says is there a buddy system or limited trial or anything to test out if ild like the gameplay yet before sinking hard earned money into something thats potentially either the most fun game ill ever play or the biggest waste of my money ever?
alot of the time i can guess and not regret my purchase later, but sometimes its just impossible to judge, mo has a history of flame wars between the people that enjoy and the people that dont and im having trouble gleaning any good info out of that mess.

Only real chance for that was in the OB.
I personally think it would be a very bad idea to introduce a free trial in the same contingent area that paid players are in. It's just inviting groups of players to make alt accounts to cause havok/hack and ruin everyone else's happy-fun-time. If they made an isle that allowed people to try it out while keeping it seperate from the whole, it could work, but I guarantee you that it will just make people quit from all the asshattery from players with no serious investment or consideration to keep playing past the trial they are only in to harass others with.
MO's OB was one of the worst social settings I've ever seen in a game during my entire MMO career. That is what you get with a game that features extreme loss and a free-to-try environment. Soooo many jagoffs...

Have to say, I think GTWander is correct. With territory control and guild wars, free trial accounts would be an invitation to create alts just to make trouble for rival guilds. Most likely there will be no free trial until there is a good means of isolating the trial accounts from the guild wars (and vice versa). The most likely way of doing that would be starting trial account in Tindrem, once it is open in the game, and limit the trial accounts to only working within the Tindrem city limits.
There wont be a free beta within the coming months (my gess based on what SV have said like 3 weeks ago).
The thing is, after the last two patches more people have started to play MO and I see more people everywhere now.
The last patches have added lots of nice feats and content. Star Vault give us a patch once every week, so MO is right now developed in a fast pace. Devs knows what they are doing. They really add interesting solutions for their feats.
It's very interesting to see how guilds now starting to build keeps and planning for war and try to get more allied etc ...
I am myself a solo player and play like 5-10 hours every day, more than I have ever done before.
There are some bugs in MO but it's very playable and is a totally different experience than anything else within the MMO market you have played.
I'd be glad to give my personal information and bank card info to any reputable game company in exchange for a free trial if that's the only way to keep asshattery to a minimum. Games that lack free trials of at least a few days are annoying. Maybe I'm spoiled.
I am convinced there is only one way to eliminate these grave evils, namely through the establishment of a socialist economy, accompanied by an educational system which would be oriented toward social goals.

The community manager has said multiple times they're going with the industry norm and waiting several months before introducing trials. It's doubtful the trials would be free due to possible exploitation as mentioned above.
I think limiting the range of play to Tindrem is the best possible idea. As long as they cannot get out of the gates, and very few back-alleys feature no guard range for a bit of PvP, should work fine. Still won't fix the general asshattery though, and while the city area is bound to be full of life, all of them will no doubt be jackasses and keep the serious players from ever wanting to go there and deal with them.

Let them into the entire world just put a small cost on the trial.
or do what star craft 2 did and give every customer 2 buddy codes that work for 7 hours each, i got hooked on sc2 and ended up shelling 60 bucks for it because of the fuggin 7 hours play time trial!
Mount and Blade did the same on me as well. Didn't even hit the levle cap before I said "this game kicks ass!" and paid 30 bones for the full version. Just wish I waited a little longer for Warband, since it's another 30 for a standalone updated version.
