Im looking forward to the skaven exp. pack. Just tried the endless trail (again) and had a lot of for, yeah enough to to resub again.

War is not the best game out there and for sure not a worthy daoc successor, but its war away from beiin dead. With the server menges the ones that are online are full of players. In Tier 1 you have hordes of players and non stop action, even T2,T3 are gettig more crowded couse more pleaple sighn up couse they like what they saw in the free trail.

Hates hate... just let them. Will be the same with Dark Millenium. Im gonna enjoy as long as I have fun here and not waste my energy in bitching around.

Are people participating in ORvR now or is it still an SC grind?

If you tell me I can get some ORvR action on, I'll come back and take a peek.

*sigh* the following also goes to all the other "THIS GAME IS DEAD OMEGEEE!!!" people...

    http://users.telenet.be/mmodata/Charts/Subs-2.png

around 90.000 subscribers....... 1.3 million dollars A MONTH....

seriously people. There's MMOs with 10000 subscribers that do just fine... The only reason why it COULD be closed down is if EA pulls the plug.... that on the other hand doesn't make Mythic a fail developer... rather it strengthens EA in their greedy bastard position...

PvMP Skaven ftl.... meh.... no sense resubscribing then

Um, that number is pure estimation. There has been no official announcements of subs since the 300k mark, a time when the game was VASTLY bigger than it is now.

Most people estimate it somewhere close to 50k these days, far more likely than close to 100k given all the shrinking the game has done, closing of foreign sites and the estimation based on the census results for characters.

the data on that site is accurate mate... but there's not been a new value for a while... so you might be right...

anyhow 50K is still enough to keep an MMO running + updates...

especially since they are also running both DAoC and UO.... even with a 50K count in WAR that's still way over 150000 total subscribers... the point being - they have enough money and all this doomsaying going around is UTTER bollocks...

not saying they couldn't do a bit more on the update and expansion front though ;)

Mythic themselves said they needed 250K to go around. That number is probably high since they fired most of the team since then but things could be a lot better and EA have canceled games before with pretty ok number of players so I am not betting any money that WAR will be around for another year. If SOE or someone would have owned it I would agree with you but EA is a different matter. Tabula Rasa had more than 50K players and so did Sims online.

Skavens is however a good addition to the game, they should had them in from the start and split Chaos and greenskins into 2 factions, that would have made the game better and closer to the lore.

But Mythic needs to focus on the endgame instead of adding races, they need a solid endgame before EA does next cost cutting spree. Fluff might get people to try the game but it is the endgame that actually keeps the players month after month.

Adding all the capital cities couldn't hurt either.

Tabula Rasa had supposedly 75 000 players and EA killed them. The game isn't dead but it isn't going good either, the game cost around 80 millions to make (or so MJ said)  and they need both to pay off the loans from that together with the running fees.

WAR is not screwed yet but time is running out and Mythic need to fix that fast.

Mythic is not a fail developer, DaoC is a great game but they did not succeed in giving the Warhammer IP the game it deserved, the boardgame/tabletop/RPG have more players worldwide than Wow.

MMOs with 10K subs were either really cheap to make, are really old and already payed off all it's costs or got sponsored like DFO (who got EU money). WAR cost the same amount of money as Wow.

WAR isn't a bad game but it lacks the Warhammer feeling and it doesn't have what it needs to hook up the players in the long run. Most players who played if for 2-3 weeks love it but it doesn't keep players as long as Wow, Eve or DaoC and it needs to fix that soon or it will all be over.

If they don't fix it in the next year the best possible scenario would be EA selling it to SOE for little cash, they would at least keep it running.

    Pretty sure that was NcSoft....

Also pretty sure TR had far fewer subs than 75k.

yeah it was NCSoft not EA... easy to mix up though... both big, both evil, both full of suits and completely lacking any creative talent of their own and relying on smaller companies to fill their pockets.... ;)

when the decision was announced to kill off TR it was definetely before it's time...

also I never said it was impossible for WAR to be shut down... I just protested the notion that it will be Mythic's fault... as it stands the game has way enough subs to be profitable..... if it is enough for those greedy money grubbing bastards at EA remains to be seen I guess... basically I just wanted to kill the notion that and I quote "Mythic is the biggest MMO fail since...", because that they aren't...

even WAR had some things that other developers are honoring by blatantly stealing, renaming and endlessly glorifying them (example: Public Quests in GW2 and Rift) but hey... nothing wrong with that i guess... more a compliment ;)

Resubbed earlier in the month, levelling up a new Runepriest on Badlands. It's been tough to resist all the oRvR going on. T1 is always 2+ full warbands on each side, similar numbers for T2 from about noon to midnight, smaller groups running all night. Just got done with an intense siege at 4:30 AM. I like to do SC's while levelling to break up the questing, but oRvR is a good way to level now...

All I can say is that WAR has the greatest IP, it has come a long way since a really crappy launch, and I enjoy it. Haters gonna hate.
