Well, for some reason WoW seems to have hit that sweet spot, being attractive to both western as eastern players image

I wouldn't dismiss the FF MMO's that readily either.

Age of Conan won best and show several times at E3. Just because something looks pretty doesn't mean its a good MMO.

Its f2p. It wont "Kill" any mmo simply because you can play it on the side of a p2p MMO.

Wasn't impressed by GW2 at all to be honest. Was looking forward to seeing the gameplay but didn't exactly leap out at me.

I honestly don't think any game will ever actually "kill" WoW...now if his post said "compete with WoW", then I would have to agree that it has that potential. (of course we still obviously haven't seen the game as a whole). Although I really don't see where your going with your idea that it wouldn't be able to kill WoW just because it'd f2p. (b2p, I have to be specific on that). Reason being, is because I know that some gamers actually do (and will) play GW2 in addition to a p2p, but I (and plenty others) will stick solely with GW2. If GW2 actually has plenty of content, and is well made, then it won't feel like a side game to your real mmo.

but don't get me wrong, I see where you're going with it and I agree that some people with play it on the side. I'm just saying that since it will be more of an mmo that GW1 was, then there will be plenty of people who will play it as their main/only mmo (at least until/if they get bored)

There's actually a thread about this specifically.

I know the data isn't a lot, but if you use it as any sort of indicator it shows that the majority of players on this site do plan to play GW2 alongside another MMO, and about a 3rd are sticking with just GW2.

However, as for it's effect on WoW. I think it will still have an impact if they keep things going the way they are. Because you can bet (especially with the number of potential MMOs releasing in the near future) that the players that plan to play a sub game on the side, will not be choosing WoW. (Most of them at least).

Congrats to GW2 and their Dev team! Hope they continue this good quality right up after launch.

As for Aion it is a great game but unforunately has a tad too much RNG for western players. I firmly belive that we can handle the gind and kinah but RNG really drives people away. Asians love their gambling :P tisk tisk.

Anyways again: YAY FOR GW2! (NO RNG PLZ)

Grats, ANet! It's amazing to see a developer actually follow through with their vision as opposed to making another WoW clone because it's the path of least resistance.

In my opinion, the combat animations and dynamics blow SWTOR away completely. I mean, you have people dodging, combinging skills on the fly, constantly moving around as positioning actually matters... The whole dynamic event thing sounds extremely interesting and is a nice change of pace from the usual quest grind. The downed skills are a pretty interesting concept for an MMO as well.

There are a lot of things but if you just combine the things I mentioned with the fact that the game will not require a monthly subscription fee and I think that SWTOR is going to have some real competition next year.
