The graphics of CoX got an upgrade with the last issue, so the game looks better than before. The expansion added a new area for levels 1-20. Players can also switch older toons from good to evil and vice versa. I'm not sure how long you have been away, but there is always new content being added. If gameplay was your major issue with the game, then you may not want to come back. Combat and mission types are about the same as before. Perhaps you can try a welcome back weekend or free trial to reevaluate the game.
hmm sounds interesting...i mean CO dosnt have rlly much to over just better graphics and thats about it...maybe the new expansion fits me better until DC universe
Well I like CO's graphics and the game play a lot. I just hate everything else about the game; the world and mission designers could learn a lot from the new content in the CoH expansion.
Playing in CoH/V now as compared to my time in 06 for a few months and 08 for a few months, it's pretty addicting. It still has a lot of choices, and now that's part of the game play. Even in the old content there's been a ton of new mission arcs that are actually entertaining and some new map types (sprinkled with the old stuff which is fun too).
Plus the population being back is nice too.
I kill other players because they're smarter than AI, sometimes.
well i hope the population is also back in the EU because it was pretty slim back in 06
CoH is very worth it. Awesome game to this day and they keep adding more and more.
As I understand it, the trial includes access to the new praetorian content. Create a new trial account with a few throwaway characters you won't get attached to and check it out before you buy.
ye instaid of that i just bought it hehe and sofar im liking the new content im not even botherd so far with the ''same mission kinda stuff'' so ye ill see how this turns out
Have they figured out how to make player controlled pets work yet? I stopped after Villains came out and one thing that sticks out was how terrible pets were.
what?
So basically they didn't add any worthwhile content. Level 1-10 is usually done in the sewers for most people and you don't have the powers to enjoy the monotonous enemy group beatings till you get to about 24 or so. The expansion pack was a way for people to pay them for creating a map that would display their new game hook AKA shiny windows.
I am a fan of COH, but not of the current strategy of getting the most cash for the least amount of work/game developement.
They created a new stage to put NPC that give more instanced missions to the same fight maps over and over. Sounds fantastic.
It all loops right back to the same annoying issues COH has had for a long time.

Actually it has/had nothing to do with the game being made in the USA. WoW for example is made in the USA, but there's more EU players. Where a game is made does not determine its regional popularity. Accessibiliy to getting hold of a copy does.
The main reason there's always been less players on the EU servers, is because for over a year the only option if one (in the EU) wanted to play was to purchase it directly from NCSoft. That meant playing on the US servers. So when the EU launch finally happened the available market was smaller, given the servers were regionalised. Not many switched to the EU servers, as they had already bought the game, had already invested conciderable time into characters, and the exchange rate at the time actually made it cheaper to play on US servers.
