Hacking-the epidemic or Hacking-the paranoia

Hacking… a term familiar to all MMO gamers . Every time we got killed 3 times in a row by the same person in our favorite FPS , remain astounded as we see how an enemy or a friend manages to level up at such high speeds or manages to hit the combo bar at excellent every single time or deals high damage, it seems inevitable that this term didn’t cross our mind.But then again … whether you are an MMOFPS headshooter or a high level roleplayer we’ve all been ,at some point , called hackers believed to be guilty of using programs that ruin everyone’s game experience although we didn't use them.

 

-So which one is it then ?

The term ’’hacking’’ gets thrown around quite often in MMO communities , but is it really reliable to believe that someone is hacking every time someone shouts it ?.

Can we really blame those who are suppose to prevent it when we see how many times we get reported for it although we are not prone to using these programs … Seriously if you didn’t get accused of hacking during you played an MMO it’s the same as if you didn’t play it since anyone who has any enemies or got lucky and killed a pro is bound to be called a hacker ….And in addition we here some of those “tragic” stories of someone being banned although he swears he never used such a program.

 

But the funniest thing is the way people report each other …

For example in one of the threads of a forum for an MMORPG I used to play some accusations were being made:

“ Player2 posted :” Huh Player1 you’re such a hacker , I even saw you’re name in xxx *site for hacking software* and you made a post asking for hacks you haxor !!!

So what do we have here … this member of the forums “Player2” is blaming Player1 because while he was browsing the site responsible for posting hacks he spotted a member of the site with a similar name to Player1 …- Do you think that Player2 browsed the site because he had a feeling he would find Player1’s name in there ?

 

Another example is during an FPS match after a player gives 3 headshots in a row a player shouts “ Nice gg1 headshot aimbot you hacker “ …. And after a few questions the accuser explains that gg1 is a type of headshots aimbot . -Where do you think this guy found out the type’s of aimbots and he can even recognize them ?

 

But aside this form of reporting there’s also the standard frustrated pro or the insecure newbie who will shout “ Hacker” every time they don’t think someone is that lucky or that skilled.

 

But yes we have to accept the fact that there are many hackers in our MMOs that don’t get banned I'm not denying that, but do you really think that someone can ban the hackers in our heads ? Every time we see someone with ,well, too much skill or too much luck we always go to that happy place where we just blame it all on hacks , so no matter what kind of security program they release I believe that although we can patch the epidemic … we can’t patch the paranoia.

 

What do you think : is hacking more of an epidemic or are there more people been accused of it than there are people doing it ?

Most of the time human beings would rather make up lies than face the bleak truth that they are not good at a game. This translates in to alot of players that would rather accuse everybody of cheating, than admit they are not good enough.

 

This all depends on the game of course, some games like diablo II pretty much everyone was using cheats, but more recent games like MW2, COD2 and even APB there are not many cheaters.

Hacking is when group of players hate you and want to hack ur pc.

Some of them try to become ur friends pretending and giving you false information.

They just want to learn of your email your IP adress or ur characters in game.

They trash talk you in ventrilo even if all of that is lie.

Group of them cry to GM to ban you, trying to insult you.

They are scared to fight you in real on street cause they are small and faggy, and i would bust their mouth so they form groups in game or real life and trash talk you.

They dont know nothin about hackin so they are askin hackers to damage ur files on PC.

as you see in this picture they hack ur game .dll files so you cant play anymore, destroying ur browsers like mozilla and explorer.

Lucky me i know how to repair that damage fast.

Girls usually like me and want to go out with me, so guys (fuckheads) try to pretend better than me in front of others and only know to trash talk of you behind back, calling you names even almost nothin is true what they say.

I wont never forget this:

one of those guys  i know him in real life he was standing close to me while we were waiting in school to make tests.

He started telling other guy:

look at him(me) he looks normal but he is actually retard, he didnt know i heard him.

i just looked at him, i didnt say nothin to him, but i was thinking in myself.

wtf is happening? guy that looks like retard is calling me who looks like average guy that im retard.

I cant describe how ugly this guy was his nose was like bird Kakadui his teeth were out like rabbits.

I mean this guy is really really ugly!!! and he is calling me retard wtf..

I call them Fuckheads, guys who cant find girls and only know to shit on others.

Now those same fuckheads have organized in Fuckhead comunitys and are trying to hack your PC

Depends on which area you're referring to least far as I'm concerned.

In game?  A lot of it is paranoia.  I've seen everything from a player being better being accused of hacks to a player simply having weak internet access that causes them to "bounce around" get accused of hacks.

In relation to actual hardware hacking?  May not be an epidemic but it's getting pretty bad.  ou raelly have to watch what you do on your computer but I think having a computer is becoming so commonplace that people aren't aware of all they ways people will try to hack you or don't realize that there are people out there that will do so without batting an eye.

I know your op was referring to the first scenario but the second area is a real concern to me.  Seems to be getting out of hand.

There is a hacking epidemic especially in PvP focused games. Many players want to win at all costs these days and if hacking is the only only way they can win then that is what they are going to do.

 

I remember this one time not long ago someone hacked my game account and deleted my characters and then left messages mocking me about all the damage he did to my account. To me I take that as the ultimate coup de gras that I had pwned someone so much in PvP that the only way they could get revenge was to hack me. GG ultimate loser.
