anybody got a spare Final Fantasy XIV beta key for me?

I'd really recommend putting your efforts elsewhere. I spent over a year talking about FFXIV on another forum and just played it for 1 hour and 30 minutes before cancelling my pre-order and calling it a day.
It's the biggest game disappointment of my life. I kid you not.

All opinion really. From what I played (during Beta Phase 2), I personally loved the game and I pre-ordered my Collector's Edition and everything. I haven't participated in Beta Phase 3 however, where I am hearing some negatives about it but I'm sure it can't be that much of a change. The whole limited amount of time to lvl one class thing sure sucks I guess, but I'm sure I can find another class or two I will enjoy or will need to level up for my build.
Warhammer Online was disappointing but at least playable. FFXIV has the worst UI and k&m controls ever seen in a PC MMORPG. On top of that, unless you have a really good rig you won't be playing it with steady framerate. It's just a huge disappointment after waiting two years to play it.
Troll? Maybe my information is incorrect but how could you be waiting 2 years when they announced it last year E3?
If the game is truly so horrific wouldn't the best way to ward off others be to share the beta experience.
I wouldn't mind a key either... just so uhhh I can see how terrible this awful game really is!!!

it really isnt it needs ton of balancing and its limited they want us to test crafting and the whole negitive xp thingy it wa sjust put in at phase 3 so it needs tweaking yet but it might even get removed if people bitch enough

I don't know... I definitley won't be buying it that is for sure. Unless someone gives me a beta key so I can see differently from what that one poster said.
Also, I am easily disillusioned and would gladly jump aboard the bandwagon bashing this game if I only had evidence from my own beta experience to back it up and really stick to those vile fanboys.

I would love a beta key if anyone has one. I need to get more pumped up for this game... GW2 has been overshadowing FFXIV for me heh but I am still exciting for FFXIV and will be getting it at launch for sure so um.. yeah if anyone has one i'll love you forever...
... otherwise i guess I can wait till Sept 30th -_-
People that are complaining that the game is hardly playable don't know what they're talking about, or haven't invested in a good computer. I've played the beta at a friend of mine's house, and it was great, I want to get in on the action myself, but I've been having the worst of luck obtaining a key for the sake of my life. Trust me, if you have a good computer, and loved FFXI, you'll be entertained by FFXIV.
SE mentioned they were working on another MMO back in 2005, code-named Rapture. We just didn't know it would be related to the Final Fantasy series in any way until about 2 years ago. Many, many of us have been waiting anxiously for this game. I still haven't gotten my hands on a beta key. FFXI was my gateway MMO and I would give anything to have that experience over again. I hope that being a now-seasoned MMO player won't inhibit me from reliving it.
Honestly, after playing Vindictus and knowing that games like TERA will/have amazingly fun combat systems, as well as GW2 with it's hyped up break-the-mold attitude towards MMO's, I'm not sure that FFXIV will even be able to hold a candle to them.
I still haven't put in my pre-order. As a 5 year follower, that is a lot of doubt.
In this thread, metal gear avatar guy either doesn't spend any time to figure out how to optimize graphical settings or completely ignored the "minimum" requirement of an 8800GT.
He also didn't take twelve seconds to find out that default controls are both being remapped and unlocked for user customization
FURTHERFREAKINGMORE, the OPEN beta test in September will allow his lame self to test the legitimate finished product, and not just an old build to stress Square Enixes server hardware.
So put all of this "I played for an hour and decided the game was horrible" crap on hold until you see what is actually being sold. Sir.
I have played the beta in phase 2 and the controls for mouse and keyboard are so horrible that unless fixed i wouldnt touch this game with a flaming pile of dog poo. Aside from the terrible controls the rest seemed solid the initial tutorial was terrible for someone that hasn't played FFXI it took me a bit of button mashing to figure out what key changed me to attack mode so i could rain hell on that stupid mob. Graphics are good story seemed decent combat is a little slow still IMO but it could easily be a game that i could get into if the controld didnt suck so bad. So dont try blowing sunshine up peoples asses the controls for PC are terrible and gamebreaking for those that didnt play FFXI or dont feel like remappiong their keyboard to make the game playable.
