GlimpseDog's part 4 video talks about the political system.

Looks like it's going to have regional barons that can be elected or pvp'ed into office. (how many barons total ?)
Barons will be able to vote for a King in their area. (How many kings per server. and how long between votes ?)
Kings can adjust tax and mob spawn rate. (Is this for bosses or all mob's and can you adjust exp & drop rate in your area also ?)

From that video, I'm pretty sure it's:
3 kings per server (for now) - one for each main capital city.
However many barons as there are small NPC towns in the game (probably around 50 I'd guess, not sure). Don't know about votes, but I'd imagine there's a decent period of time between elections.
He said that applies to normal mobs, but they didn't say anything about bosses - nor did he say anything about xp or drops, so I wouldn't assume those are affected.
Thanks for the post, looks interesting - definitely reminds me of L2.
Just watched all those hands on videos.
Game is looking good.

amazing
guild can buy city's building for guild houses .. each city door can be bought acording to de video
superb!!
I laughed at the up-skirts discussion.
Cant wait to watch the videos when I get home from work today. I have been waiting for info on the Political System.
My thought exactly.
I've never been a fan of housing in general, I've always just shrugged at the mention of it. But when I heard them talk about it, stating that every door will be an actual door to a guilds own little "house" or "hall". I simply thought to myself "Wow, that sounds amazing".
That will be a real addition to immersion for me, knowing that there is someone behind every door. That all of the city will be used, visited and sometimes crowded.
And yes, the political system sounds somewhat intriguing, can't wait to Beta test that feature. I'd love to do anything I possibly can to make it great, because I know BHS and EM really does listen to their feedback.

I wonder if cities can go to war with one another.
I can see the ability to manipulate spawn rates being pretty useful.
that does sound pretty bad ass. So i can become the king of my server?
Wow...
"When it comes to GW2 any game is fair game"
interesting this game has just made it back onto my list. When can we expect a release date?
I may cancel my FF14 pre order for this.
"When it comes to GW2 any game is fair game"
I think we can expect it in 2011, but that's about it.
This game is starting to sound quite good.
Can't say i'm interested in the game at all but it is intriguing to see if they can pull off such a political system without it being easily exploited by large guilds.
Also multiple guilds in the same doorway? I know it's instanced but two guilds guildwarring and sharing the same front door could see hilarity of a keystone cop level.

Sounds pretty dam awesome.....
but grrr Frogster....
i will be canceling my FF14 account once this game is released. Fuck FF.
I agree with ya, Sov.
This game is slowly overtaking my excitement for XIV even. Seems to have more of the "feel" I'm looking for in a MMO these days.

Political system sounds great, but I'm not sure I could get used to running about as a stump with arms. (The character models for both races shown in that video just look silly)
The next FGT3 should be starting up very soon, then CB & OB. Launch should be early 2011.
Focus Group Test are not used to check for bugs per say. They are there to play the game then give feedback on how the game played as far as pacing for each class, how the story unfolded and if the rewards were good or not, What parts of the game they felt needed improvements. Most of the bug finding is being done in-house.

Very grief worthy this system is.
This is not a game.
Seeing that everything is mostly speculation your post is a knee jerk reaction at best.

Lmao....
I hope you can block global chat durring election week ! No billboards in the hub cities please.....then again maybe those could be amusing.
Well going off FF 14 beta, the game is piss poor at the moment.
I wasn't in the FGTs but I had a friend who was and from what he told me it was pretty stable as far as lag and bugs goes (actually he said there was no lag at all). I mean...if that's true and having FGT3, CB and quite possibly OB on the way I expect the launch to be rather flawless.
