In FFXI I enjoyed using my PS2 controller, I haven't tried using a gamepad with FFXIV yet but for those of you that are how is it working? Is it easy to select skills and use the UI? I sold my PS2 and controllers so before I buy a new one for this game I'm wondering how well they work. I know people have said the game leans more towards using a gamepad like FFXI but my friend said it's faster just to use the KB in this one so I was looking for some input.

FFXI/FFXIV are both clearly designed to be enjoyed with a controller. If you played XI with a controller you will feel right at home. You can use your ps2, ps3, 360, or pc controller and it works very similarly. Just go to the config where you install and set it up.
I have always used a controller in XI/XIV and I love it. It is by far my favorite way to play MMO's.
