I got tired of reading all these questions about whether it'll be a true mmorpg or just instanced like the first one.
No, it is not instanced. The world is open. That was one of the main reasons they even took the time to make a sequel.

yes it will be, just not as much. only for personal stories and your personal part of town. anything personal is instanced.
so saying its not instanced is not correct.
The FAQ on the game's website makes use of the phrase "extensive instancing" when asked the degree in which the world will be instanced. That's literally the extend of my knowledge on the topic. I do know that there will be an open, non-instanced game world, but the extent of which that will be mixed with the instanced areas is beyond my comprehension.
What that means, I don't know. I'm not following GW2 enough to really care what that means, and I'm not someone who really hates instancing all that much anyway. Whether I'm in or outside of an instance, I prefer playing MMORPGs with groups of other people, which is a whole other subject entirely.
True but when most players think of persistent they think of WoW (sadly) and WoW isn't completely persistant either nor would most players want it to be. So when he says it's not instanced while technically not correct it conveys the same message as if it was correct since it would be roughly about as persistant as what many players consider a persistant mmo to be .
GW2 is an Instanced Persistent World. Dosen't mean it won't be good tho, GW1 was awsome.
The answer is clearly stated in this video
[PROOF]
GW2 is a persistent world, that uses large persistent zones.. with small loading times between zones...
Only the Personal story parts, your home instance and some dungeons and raidinstances are instanced....

I don't believe there will even be load times between zones - atleast not loading screens unless you teleport. It looks pretty much all seamless except for what you mentioned.
truthfully we never seen them walk between zones yet.
Either way it should be a good sign as even if there are loading screens since the zones are so large you won't see them often. It could also be near instant transition like some of the loading screens shown.

The OP should add this link to his statement in the first post.

Edit: nm, bachus's video addresses the question.
the video still says there are loading screens, but the maps are HUGE so you wont see them that much.
That's not what he was saying. He said that there are loading screens but you see them when you're entering or exiting instances, such as going between the persistent world and personal story content. He did not say there was loading screens between zones (quite the contrary).
Considering the amount of people doing a single event especially at launch. I'd say loss of seamlessness is a worthy sacrifice. As long as the maps are massive, I'd rather have loading screens and not lag when I see a large mass of players (which will likely be often in this game) than the game be seamless and lag a heck of a lot.
