gamepad and keyboard

I was planning on buying this game for the PS3 since I played ffxi on PS2 but if the information I read is correct the PS3 version will not be coming out until next year.  My pc got a score of 3500 on low and 2200 on hi as far as the benchmark goes so I can play the game on my pc.

The main reason I wanted it for PS3 though is so I can sit back on my couch and enjoy while I'm playing I did not want to do this at my computer desk.

I will be buying ff14 for pc now since I will not wait to play it but I have a wired keyboard/mouse and no gamepad.  I was wondering if anyone from beta or just anyone really had any suggestions on what type of wireless gamepad and keyboard to purchase that will function well with windows 7, I seen there is some logitech ones and the xbox 360 wirless one but also wondering if there is any gamepads and keyboards where I will not be changing batteries, I'm willing to pay a decent price for this feature but I cant seem to find any logitech ones that recharge themselves off the usb cord kinda like the PS3 controllers and the xbox ones do not say on the microsoft site if it requires batteries or recharges.

thanks in advance for any info and suggestions

I don't have a ps3 but I'm almost certain that I remember reading that people can use their ps3 controllers on a pc by installing some software on their computers. I think it has something to do with it being bluetooth.

The PS3 controller will work with pc but with what I read it needs the usb connection the bluetooth feature has not been unlocked with pc's yet but there is a software program to make it work while plugged in, so that wont work for my dilema right now, gonna have to buy one with batteries it looks like, and I just cant believe sony is the only ones smart enough to do that I mean xbox must have one I assumed but dunno

PS3 Controller + MotionInJoy + USB bluetooth dongle (optional) will enable you to use the ps3 controller as a gamepad on the pc, and I myself have used this combination sans dongle on my Win7 x64 machine working flawlessly, albeit some d/c issues, but rare nonetheless.

    http://www.motioninjoy.com/ for the ps3 drivers.

Been using it, have been getting blue screens.  Ordered an xbox wireless controller/receiver the other day.

I only have 2 PS3 controllers and i'm guessing that by buying that new piece for bluetooth connectivity that I would not be able to hook the gamepad up to both my pc and the PS3 withouth reconfiguring it  everytime, so if I have to buy something might as well just get a new gamepad,  xcaliber do you know is the xbox gamepad you ordered rechargable or does it require 2 AA batteries?

Yeah, if you want to use the controller on your PS3, you'd have to pair it with your PS3 by connecting it to your PS3 via the USB connecter and hitting the PS button. If you want to use it on your PC, you have to connect it to your PC with the USB connector and pair it with your PC in the MotionInJoy settings.

ya thought so, I'm better off just buying a new gamepad and wireless keyboard but guess I wont really need a mouse if the controls are as bad as they where in ffxi and from what i've been hearing they are.  I played on pc for a little bit once I bought a second account it was so hard to get used to after playing for a year on a compact ps2 keyboard with gamepad.  I ended up just mainly using 2 hands on keyboard cause I hated my gamepad at the time, trying to get the right fit this time, because I really want to have the same feeling as I'm playing on the console, since I prefer it

You can buy battery packs for the wireless Xbox controllers that charged them through USB.

You still need to purchase the wireless adapter for your PC though for it to work.  I think you can buy a PC bundle that had the controller and wireless adapter.
