What game has the worst player community?
and as a secondary question, why do so many players continue to play games they dont even like for so long?

1) This question has been asked on several different occasions. Usually, the overwhelming response is WoW.
2) I think people get attached to their characters, friends still playing, time/money invested. Any number of reasons I would assume.
Wouldn't you as a gamer by far more intrested in what game has good or the best player community, besides you NEVER gonna get a true answer really about either good or bad cause some people experiance might be different from eachother. All you should care about is if the game YOU are playing has a good community.
Gamers don't play games they don't like. Obviously there is always something that keeps people playing a game, which can be thousands of reasons.
Just wondering why people new to games or forums keep asking for the negative?, and if the people aint new to gaming then ....well....we all know why such a topic like this would be created.
Every game i've played has had a mix of good and bad apples (oddly enough the more 'hardocre' games are the ones with the best communities in my experience). That being said SWG whilst having some brilliant characters playing there had overall the most childish community i've come across.
As for the last question; through a combination of bitterness and stubbornness I guess.
"Come and have a look at what you could have won."
MMO forums have the worst community. Sorry, I love you all but we (i am not an exception) dwell overly on the negative. While we may have positive motives, i.e. improving the game/genre, it comes across as rabid vitriol.

It passes the time lol
"Come and have a look at what you could have won."
This is the truth. The MMO community in general is subdivided into many different subsets according to preferences. Each subset, however, believes that there is only one "true" way to make an enjoyable MMO - their way.
In short, the MMO community as a whole is immature and myopic.
To the OP, if you're talking worst overall game communities, in my opinion Darkfall is by far the worst I've ever experienced. Hell, it's the worst I've ever even heard of.
Runner-up would go to AoC.
Hell hath no fury like an MMORPG player scorned.
Well...there is no easy answer. I've experienced the best and worst communities throughout my mmog experiences.
WoW can be bad....well immature, especially in trade chat. However, I also have run into some extremely helpful people in WoW.
In the early days of LotRO, all I ever saw in OOC chat was "Go back to WoW!" whenever anyone would make a negative comment. I recently returned for the LotRO F2P beta, and I had nothing but excellent experiences with the commuity as a whole.
I gotta say that the older mmos had very close knit communities. In AC1, AC2, CoH and DAoC it was rare that I ran into a bad apple. Both in game and on the forums the communities were helpful and even people who were enemies in PvP had respect for one another.
However.....if you're looking for the absolute worst online community out there, I have run into more idiots in MW2 than any mmo.
and you probably havnt heard half of it, to date I havnt heard/read/seen any type of forums (pre-forums to DF) in the same league as that plague infested inbred internet assylum. Then again have no idea how after-launch-forums are, maybe better but Id doubt it.
agrred! which is the source of why I am asking. I am a darkfall player, love the game, hate the community.

Hate the forum community, or hate the people you talk to ig? I've never had any issues with the DF community and find it one of the better ones to be brutally honest.
"Come and have a look at what you could have won."
Community is pretty easy to gauge, the more PvP the worst the community is a good measure to go by.
When I said i had "time", i meant virtual time, i got no RL "time" for you.
in game is better and its gotten better over time however....there are still a higher amount of complainers even in game compared to others in my view.

I find that the more intolerable a commuinity is the worst it is and by that standard it was:
FFXI-japanese players
Aion-anti wow rants/bot spammers
For me that is. I can only hope that as SWTOR rolls out I'll find more open-minded and diverse players, just like WoW. I will personally take immature behavior over spiteful behavior. You can laugh with people that appear not to be so serious, but a crowd that takes itself too seriously is not something I personally enjoy.
"Small minds talk about people, average minds talk about events, great minds talk about ideas."
I have found this to be exactly the forumla. Which in mind doesnt mean a pve game is better than a pvp game but the community is often considerablly different.

darkfalls community falls short to the worst yet tightnit community ever concived and were talking about eve online.
you cant trust no one. anyone can backstab you. anyone can rob you. yet the community is very united it has to be the wierdest community ever. from doing hulkageddon to gate camps. getting into corps and robbing them for all their worth (heck the goons did it in darkfall) its hard to tell if the pilot next to you is a friend or someone setting you up.
oh and yes i used to be a nice miner, been fooled and turned into a nasty pirate.
Several said Darkfall. That's a perfect example of what I said above...I played DF and the forum community IS one of the worst I've seen. In game, most people were cool and some very helpful. Sure you get ganked a lot, but mostly it was all in fun and the asshattery was only typical in my experience not worse per capita. (the grind is another story).

1. it's not WoW. of course with 11+ million peeps you're going to have a lot of a-holes. DARKFALL is the worst community. Even though we don't know how many peeps play (ive heard only 10k) I encounter them -all the time-. Every other person in that game is a douche. Besides Darkfall I would go with Aion next though it has gotten better, same with WAR too...
2. Peeps play them still cuz they're bored, 'nuff said...or friends are online, who knows....I play Darkfall and I can't stand the community so i'm an idiot myself
Meh, I don't think WoW even counts as community. If anything, it's a troll community. Trolls trolling trolls, it's all you see. And it can all be found in the 'trade channel'.
To me, the worst community ever is the Grand Chase one.
There is simply no way to make a thread or ask a question in their forums without having one of the "elite" posters dislike your point of view and make it so that the hordes of sheeps behind them flame your thread for like 3 days after your last answer.
On top of that it is useless to try and make them understand your point of view because they will just keep repeating whatever the popular poster said, no matter if it has nothing to do with your current argument.
if for a weird reason or by sheer luck you somehow manage to get them to notice your point, and the find no way to oppose to it, then they will proceed to check all your messages for possible mispells "eben if dei mai be spekin liek dis" and bash you for it, or simply say " IF YA DNT LIKE IT; LIEK PLAY ANOTHER GAME LULZ"
To make an example of what i talk about :
Grand Chase is a rpg/arcade game that offers you 3 different starting female characters only ( for lore reasons ) which means you can´t start playing as a male character unless you either pay, or get high lvl enough to unlock the male characters thru a serie of mindnumbing grind quests ( except perhaps for 1, which is fairly easy to unlock within a couple weeks of playing )
This makes it so that from time to time, an user or a group of users ask the company to consider making ONE of the previously unlockable male characters ( perhaps the easiest one ) a starter character, since many years passed and the initial lore is kinda dispersed anyway.
Asking for such thing, even when your thread may be very well written and offering compensations to the players who had to unlock it and what not, will be met with a horde of ( mainly female and 12 yy "i like to stare at girl´s pixelized ass" ) players that will start calling you sexist, racist ( yes, i dont know what has race to do with this either ) will flame you, not only in that thread but in pretty much every single post you make on completely unrelated topics for about 2 to 3 months, and may end up with a petition to get you banned for being " a piece of sexist trash who has come to GC to perjudicate the female playerbase"
This is just a small example of what is in store for anyone over 15 yy old foolish enough to enter their forums.
Rawr.
This may be true but I find the funniest things also comes from the trade channel. Guess its like 4chan alot bad, but you can find some funny stuff also... if your lucky

Dual blog with 2 nerds:)
world of warcraft by far, 10 million people that dont add up to 10 iq points total, nuff said.
I think people need to be more positive about MMORPG's.
Every single MMO to date that I have experienced has a retched community of players. I don’t see how you can just single any one of these “communities” out for special dishonour. I have no interest in getting to know someone on the other side of a fiber optic cable.
World of Warcraft hands down. I've played almost every MMO out there, from EQ original to the newest of them. It has to be WoW.
When players start requiring gear that drops in the raid you are going to just to attend it, you know some stuff is wrong. The general attitude in WoW is very harsh and unforgiving. It's sad because WoW vanilla (for us so called hardcores) had a great community. It's depressing to see the game come to this.
A second for me would be AoC PvP server. Notice I said PvP server. The regular servers are fine community wise. But the PvP servers are just rancid. Just flagrent epeen internet manhood flying everywhere.
Playing: Rift, LotRO
Waiting on: GW2, BP
